Beach Gardens Hotel

We had booked an overnight stay at the Beach Gardens on the way. The question about our arrival time was answered by us with 18:50. When we arrived exactly at this time, we found that the reception was not busy. Unusual for a hotel that claims to be staffed 24 hours a day at the reception. After contacting us via intercom, we were informed that the assistance was on its way. To make it short, it took 1h 40min and several queries via email/WhatsApp for someone to come and we could check in. The question to us: “how was your day” was then the crowning glory. No word of apology or explanation for this delay. Once in the room, an unpleasant smell of detergent struck us, which is supposed to give you the feeling of cleanliness. The emphasis is on “should”. The room has the charm of a dentist's office, with the difference that a dentist's office is really clean. Under the bathroom door were tufts of hair. That was gross at most. In summary, we could have stayed better in the car.

I needed stay for one night unexpectedly and it was the only reasonable priced place. The two main things are a good sleep in a clean room The rooms are basic and massive. The bed was super comfortable and clean. The bathroom was not the cleanest I found a hair but it’s not filthy as other reviews made out. For the price in this area at peak time it’s great value for money and I would come back.

We arrived at Beach Gardens after a long journey to find it is next door to a very noisy building site. Shown yo our room which stunk of bleach. Asked for a refund but refused and moved to another hotel - this was quiet but the room was dirty. We had no alternative but to stay the night. Asked for a refund on 2nd night the next morning which they agreed to after showing us another equally awful room in yet another hotel. They seem to run a number of hotels all in a very small area - they were all horrid! I’m still battling for my refund! The staff are very helpful but if you value cleanliness, look elsewhere.
