Caribbean Resort by the Ocean

I stayed at the Caribbean Resort in Hollywood, FL in April 2025 for work travel. Shortly after entering my assigned room, I noticed a strong chemical odor and immediately experienced burning in my lungs, dizziness, and nausea. I left the room and sought medical care. I was first seen at urgent care and then referred to the emergency room, where I received a chest X-ray, EKG, and a breathing treatment. I later learned that an ozone generator had been running in the room for more than 24 hours and had not been removed prior to my arrival. I documented the incident in detail and provided the hotel with medical records and receipts for my direct out-of-pocket expenses. Despite this, the property declined to accept responsibility or reimburse even those direct costs. This experience raises serious concerns about both guest safety and how this property handles avoidable incidents when they occur. Based on my experience and the hotel’s response, I would strongly recommend travelers look elsewhere for accommodations.

I expected a nice room after viewing photos online- Great photographer- nothing like photos. Poor indoor air quality- strong mildew smell. Sign in the bathrooms saying do not flush toilet paper- You are to put soiled tp in the trash can next to the toilet. Very unsanitary and would assume the smell would be a problem. We left the room immediately but there was no one in office to check out with. I called the next day and was told I would not be receiving any refund due to their no cancellation policy. I felt the room was unsafe, unsanitary, and unhealthy and management didn't care.

This was my 5th time staying at Caribbean Resort By The Ocean and once again it was perfect. I will be back again next year 2026. The room was comfortable the staff were great especially Carmen and Andy. Can’t wait to go back next year.
