La Quinta Inn & Suites Lakeland West

We needed to stop and let the kids and out puppy out of the car. The hotel was easy to find right off the interstate. There was plenty of restaurants to choose from for dinner. The room was huge. It was just right for a family of 5 plus a dog. We were actually not cramped. The Pool was perfect to end the day and the kids slept well. Breakfast was what we needed before we headed back on the road.

This hotel is being used as a homeless overflow stay. Nobody was present at the front desk when arrived to check in. Front office gave me a key to a room that was occupied and I walked into someone else's occupied hotel room due to the front office mistake. THEN, my key didn't work to unlock the correct door multiple times and I had to return to the front desk multiple times to have them fix it. One working elevator located at the back of the hotel, front one is broken down. Appears to be black mold spots on the bathroom ceiling. Stains all over the carpet. THE SMELL. Need I say more? Didn't bother unpacking my clothing into dresser due to how STINKY the drawers were.... Microwave only worked occasionally. People are wandering all around the hotel and around out back that are living there, including many dogs. Residents housing there were arguing at the pool area. Far far far from a decent stay. I've never stayed at a worse hotel.

Be careful the GM is taking deposits feom customers without validation or facts. I was accused of smoking in room, when I never did. At checkout I was refused my deposit for those reasons without any documentation or proof
