Grand Beach Hotel

I took a birthday trip with my 2 daughters back in April and was left with mixed feelings. First of all, location is not great, you cannot walk anywhere, you have to drive or take a trolly. The thermostat was broken in our room so it would get super warm at night and every time the house keeping came, they'd leave the balcony door open. I never made a fuss as I was traveling alone with my children, so we just sucked it up. There was a balcony, which is always a plus, but the paint all over the balcony was coming off and would rub off on your feet. I travel quite a lot and have never left a review for any hotel before but I am this time because of this- I require lifelong medication that I am always paranoid about when traveling, so every time I leave the room, I make sure it is secure and my bags are left in a specific way so I can tell if they've been moved. One day, after being gone all day I noticed the bag was moved. I noted it but saw my meds were still there and kept on with my day. As I was packing to leave, I noticed I had a missing dress and sweater I wore upon arrival. As I was checking out, I uncomfortably mentioned this to the man at the front desk and his response was "why would anybody want your medication?" (which obv was not the point) and told me he'd have somebody be in touch. Nobody was ever in touch. I never followed up because I'm not looking for anything, I just wanted management to be aware and acknowledge it. Not sure if anybody has had a similar situation here, but just thought it should be put out there.

Spent a day here using a day pass (ResortPass) completely satisfied with the price for the amenities. Got on the beach with a chair and umbrella (no extra cost) with no issues around 10 am. Caught an aircraft show over the beach from approx 11 am - 4 pm. I guess this is a big deal over Memorial Day weekend. Chilled out at the ground level pools AND the adults only pool on the 7th floor. Lobby is very nice. Outdoor restaurant food looked good even though I didn’t purchase any or drinks. However, the staff around me on the beach and at the pools seemed very attentive to the other customers that were ordering. Would definitely come back for a full stay or another day pass.

Our third visit to Grand Beach was just good, sadly not great. Lots of positives including the beach staff, bar tenders, towel boys and valet but it’s extremely disappointing to lose access to the main part of the beach and pools for an extended period of time over a few days due to it being closed so the resort could have multiple photo shoots for marketing. In addition, the Resort sells apparently day passes to the community and the quiet private beach transformed into a loud obnoxious public beach on the weekend. Wanted an egg sandwich for breakfast but couldn’t get one on the property. The rooms were fine, but way too much light shines into the rooms at night which was another negative. We had no real issues until this trip and even with the Manager giving us a small accommodation to make up for our disruptions, the point of going to the beach is too relax and sadly we were unable to do that some of the days we were guests. At this point, despite great service from Joel and Max at the bars, a fourth visit to Grand Beach is very much in question.
