The Congress Hotel on Ocean Drive

The Hosts are horrible. During your 5 nights stay there, on the 3rd night our AC went out. We noticed that it was a little warmer than the nights before but didn’t put much thought to it. As we leave the following morning to our excursion, we came back at night to our room hot and stuffy. The room already smelled like mildew and mold the day we arrived (there’s black mold underneath the bathroom sink) and that day it was even worst. We went down stairs to ask front desk and realized we weren’t the only ones being affected. There were already several complaints. Our whole floor was at 84 degrees +. And that went on for the last 2 days of our stay. As we contacted the host, we were told that there would be a refund to accommodate for the rest of our stay, however that won’t be done until Wednesday and for us to reach back to the host. Wednesday comes and we were given the run around to contact back on Monday. Monday comes and we still have not been given any refund to accommodate the fact that we were drenched in sweats for the last 2 days of our stay. We literally slept with the patio door WIDE OPEN at night and left our belongings unattended with the back door opened to help air out the room. We are hoping and praying that the host would follow through and do their due diligent before we have to go through with the bank. We will be filing a report to BBB, especially for the black mold. If you read through many of the reviews, we’re not the only customers who had noticed black mold. Our entire floor literally smells like chlorine sitting in old mop water with a strong scent of mildew. The photo of the bathroom floor was when we walked in after 10 hrs of us being out and coming back. It was so hot that the whole room was moist and humid. You can see underneath the sink there was black mold.

I have stayed here a couple times in the past. Last time was Sept 2021. It is now May 22 and I just noticed that the Hotel has charged my Credit Card 2055$ I called the bank and closed the account and open up a fraudulent transaction report. I then called the hotel and called the hotel and called the hotel. 20+ times. No one answers and no call backs.(WHAT BUSINESS DOESN'T ANSWER THE PHONE?) I then did a little research on this place and they have a history of the staff stealing Card #s and using them. Read their Google reviews, there and many complaints of this happening . I am going to call the Miami police and file a report and then file a complaint with the Fla attorney general office

I stayed at this hotel and presented my credit card, a uncommonly used card, for the required room deposit. I noticed that the pending deposit never posted to my account and thought it odd but moved on. 5 days later my card is being excessively used to order doordash at restaurants in Miami Beach... while I'm back at work in another state. The only time I used that card the entire weekend was during check in at Congress Suites. So Beware.
