The Brazilian Court

It’s a beautiful old hotel - the staff were great. Only downfall is that the the public areas eg hallway and elevators had a very strong smell of mildew and it permeated a bit into the bedroom although the room itself was beautifully decorated. I didn’t really take advantage of the pool or the sitting area - it could use an update from what I had seen. All in all the staff were courteous and very eager to assist. I would stay again

My husband and I checked Into this hotel, last night, and expected our room to be properly functioning and in working condition, and maintained as well. Upon arriving in our room, it had a musty odor, the room was closed up, for who knows how long, before we checked in, so air conditioning was on so the room could be properly prepared BEFORE our arrival. Furthermore, the hot water, was barely Luke warm, at the bathroom sink, and then again, while showering this morning. The outside patio of the room we requested, was also not maintained or cleaned as should’ve been, either. The threshold was filled with soil, cause it had been raining, previous to our arrival as well. We have stayed at this property a few times before, “ in season” in Palm Beach, and we did not encounter any of these issues, which is why we returned. However, we have come to experience, that in the “ off season” the hotel is not fully at the level that is represented NOR the standard that the hotel, tries to represent. Furthermore, I had made a massage appointment, for my first full day , at 3:00 pm in the afternoon, and when I called this morning, at 9:30 to let them know, at the Spa, that we would be checking out, the person at the Fromt desk , in the Salon, “ Merma” proceeded to tell me repeatedly, that I am responsible for the massage, cause they have a 24 hr cancellation policy. I asked her, considering, that I / we( my husband and I) have already checked out, why when it is Hour’s BEFORE my appointment, and she certainly has time to let the masseuse know, that I am unable to keep this appointment as well, why I am responsible and told repeatedly by her, about they’re “ policy” Seems to me, again as a guest of this property, NO consideration for circumstances, WAY beyond ANY responsibility of mine, as a GUEST of the hotel, would she 3 times, keep telling me about “ they’re” policy. No consideration WHATSOEVER or understanding NOR acknowledgement was offered to me, AT ALL. Be wary and informed before you make room reservations here, it is a very old property, which is quite charming and well located however, it is also, not been well maintained or managed as well. Wonder when the last time “The Leasing Hotels of the World” truly stayed or are aware of the quality and poor condition of this place. Sorry to say, however, MOST evident.

We stayed at Brazilian Court this year for our anniversary as we often go to Palm Beach and have stayed at most of the boutique hotels on the island. Each hotel has it's own ambiance and vibe. The Brazilian court was built in 1926 by Rosario Candela and renovated by Maurice Fatio and the architecture is true Palm Beach style with the most lovely tropical landscaping. We were upgraded to a suite which was so private and perfect!
