Island House Beach Resort

Island House Beach Resort is a wonderful place to stay. However, do not rent Unit 1 South. There are no doors to the lanai and I was wearing two layers of clothes because it was so cold in there in mid to late January 2025. Never have I stayed in a Unit at Island House that needs attention like this one. Scuffed, dirty walls and baseboards, electrical switches broken/outlets showing black, small appliances that wouldn't work, televisions that were out more than on. The Office Staff is good and courteous, but this particular unit is really subpar.

We have been going to Island House for the past 13 consecutive years and it has always been our highlight vacation of the year. However, this will be our last year staying at Island House because of the change in management, specifically one of the ladies in the front office. The decision was made not to let people swap units once the deposit was paid, so my family (we rent three to four units each year) went to the front office to try and plan next year, but our normal units were being renovated during the same time next year and we all wanted to stay in the same tower. We tried speaking with the front office about possible solutions and the total disregard and indifference we felt was very disappointing. Because we had to decide right there on the spot or lose our first right of refusal, we decided not to rebook. We called back to the office a couple of weeks later to try and rebook, but never received a return phone call. We have since booked at Jamaica Royal for next year and are very sad that we lost our favorite vacation spot.

My family went to IH for 9 years in a row. We've stayed in both villas and apartments. Most units are very nice and spacious. Every year we go (1st week, sometimes 2 weeks) in early August the groups get bigger, louder, ruder, and closer to you- they set their village of tents right up next to you. You can hear their music out into the Gulf when you're in your Kayak and hear it up to 4 properties away. Multiple items over multiple years have been broken and/or stolen. These large groups over crowd the unit ( you can see so many air mattress boxes in the recycle bins) and overcrowd the parking lot with their visitors cars. The management has given up on trying to do anything to contain a nice family environment. You used to have to have a parking pass and they would not allow the overcrowding in the units. If you like a loud party spring break atmosphere vs the quiet relaxing place this used to be, this is the place for you!
