Doubletree Atlanta Emory

Arrived to hotel to find it abandoned. Appeared to have been closed for a very long time. Called Hotwire who was unaware also that the property was closed either.

We stayed at the Brookhaven Atlanta Hotel for a conference in late September. We booked through Hotwire, and once we saw the name of our hotel we saw nice photos online and decent reviews, but the pictures are completely misleading. The hallways smelled damp, and our room’s air was so dry and stale that both nights my husband and I kept coughing and waking up with burning eyes and stuffy noses. The moment we left the hotel, we felt fine. At 1 a.m. on our second night, my husband noticed something drifting from the vent. When we looked up, we saw it—thick black and brown buildup coating the vent (see photo). It looked like mold. We could barely breathe and checked out by 6 a.m. The woman at the front desk was polite when I showed her the picture and said they’d rope off the room for cleaning, but this should never happen. Free parking was nice, but it’s not worth risking your health. The website photos make the place look modern and clean—it’s not. What you don’t see in those pictures is the air you’re actually breathing.

Great staff--kind and very helpful! Rooms were clean and value was great! Location was easy access to medical facilities.
