Mauna Loa Village

This cost a little more but consider where it is. The view to the ocean was a bit distant and limited but everything else at the resort was great. Our room was ready when we checked in. Helen, the manager, was quick to correct a room furnishings issue and made sure we were cared for through out the week. She's awesome. The room was clean, very roomy, and fully met our needs. The A/C was a little tricky to operate but I got the hang of it. No insects or issues. The rooms included darkening curtains, the beds were comfortable, and we noticed very little noise outside. Yay! This is the most critical part of a stay for us. A good nights sleep is very important, and we got it here. The grounds are pleasant, and there was always plenty of parking. Thanks

If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with beach access and a convenient location, do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else. The location is terrible. Nothing is walkable, and everything (restaurants, bars, shops) is at least a 15-minute drive. For a “vacation” property, it’s about as inconvenient as it gets. The resort itself feels like a neglected retirement complex that’s been left to slowly fall apart. Any charm it once had is long gone, replaced by peeling paint, cheap patchwork fixes, and water features that are either stagnant mosquito breeding grounds or just broken pipes pretending to be fountains. The hot tubs are laughably small and barely filled, and the WiFi is unreliable to the point of being useless. Now for the part that really says everything: the pests. Roaches are a regular presence around the property, and inside the unit we encountered venomous centipedes; the kind that blend into the carpet until they’re suddenly not. That’s not just unpleasant, it’s unacceptable. It makes it very clear that pest control and basic upkeep are not a priority here. Even more concerning, staff members openly admitted they wouldn’t choose to stay here themselves. That should tell you everything you need to know. The only bright spot in this entire experience was one of the security guards, who actually seemed to care and tried to be helpful; something management could clearly learn from. This place is poorly maintained, poorly managed, and not worth your time or money. I’ve stayed in plenty of timeshares, and this is easily one of the worst. Avoid it at all costs.

We had a great stay a Wyndham Mauna Loa Village. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and the bed was a dream! The property was well maintained. They even had hula dancers and free drinks during our stay. Highly recommend.
