Overall, the VRBO listing itself is accurate (which is what we used to book it), and they provide helpful starter supplies like dishwasher and laundry pods. The SmartTV worked well for streaming (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), and Kathy at Paradise Vacations was consistently responsive and easy to work with from booking through checkout. It was a decent place to stay as a home base for the trip. The main issue for us was cockroaches (we stayed in #C207). We started seeing them the first night and continued to see them throughout the stay. We reported it right away and included photos. We were told that roaches are fairly common in Maui and may come inside during heavy rain (we did arrive during a major rain storm). We were advised to spray and to avoid leaving food out (though we hadn’t gone grocery shopping yet at that point), and they offered pest control if we wanted to schedule it. We followed their advice to clean and spray every day, and we kept all food—even dry goods—in the fridge. When that didn’t seem to help, we asked for another treatment, but the earliest appointment wasn’t until five days later, which was close to the end of our stay. Because of this, for most of the trip it was basically a cycle of cleaning and managing food carefully. We were also continuing to collect the evidence they asked for (at one point they asked us to save some in a Ziploc bag for the spray technician). We were later told they were German roaches, which apparently tend to live indoors—so that’s probably why the issue didn’t go away after the weather cleared. I did ask about a partial refund, since it felt reasonable given the situation. They did offer a credit as a good-faith gesture, and I appreciated that. On a lighter note, at least we didn’t run into any of the really large “B52” ones!

Beautiful place to stay. Our condo was well equipped with full kitchen, washer and dryer. It also had beach chairs and a cooler we could use to take across the road to the beach. The pool was lovely and clean and maintained every morning. The complex has bbqs/grills. We never used inside, instead spent all our time on the deck enjoying the Hawaiian climate. Check in with a code was easy, and well communicated from the rental agency we booked through. Highly recommend

We stayed in unit A103 from November 17th till December 19th, 2022, we had stayed in this same unit in January 2020 and it was fine, the unit has gone downhill, we found mold on the bathroom shower curtain, and on the bath mat in the tub, the bathroom vanity has one door just hanging and will not close, the outdoor furniture is metal and is rusty to the point I cut my arm, the broadloom in the condo is very badly stained, the living room furniture is old and tired a good shampoo might help, my wife had to clean all the pots and pans as they were left very dirty, the kitchen has been redone is nice, the bedroom in the ad says King but is a Queen, the ad did say no air in bedroom HOT HOT the suns hits the bedroom all day even with the blinds closed by bedtime its like 85 degrees they supplied 3 fans and you need all them going 24 hrs a day. We took pictures of all the issues and went to show Rentals Maui what the condo is really like, they were very responsive to our issues and did give us some compensation, We have used Rental Maui for our last 4 visits and I would use them for our next trip but I would never stay A103 again. Kihei Bay Vista is a nice clean complex not large has a great pool and spar tub, the grounds are kept in tip-top shape, very clean BBQ, and parking is good, best part is right across the street to the beach. close to everything, use Kehei Rent a Car older reliable cars had one for a month was all over the island not any problems with it, and great local people to deal with and good savings compared to airport rentals.
