Grand Wailea Resort Hotel And Spa

It was an older hotel. For being a Waldorf Astoria property, we had very high expectations. We loved the lazy river and pool offerings. The fireworks show on the 4th of July was good. The property was beautiful, but we were disappointed when we called for extra pillows and were told we were on a pillow waitlist. In addition, having to wait in line to get towels and a wristband each day felt a bit unnecessary. We are paying a lot of money to stay at the hotel and it felt like we were being questioned just to get pool towels. In addition, it was disappointing that our luggage wasn’t brought to our room. Yes, we can do it, but this was the only hotel out of four during our Hawaii trip where luggage was not taken to our room.

We are still here and have a 9 night stay. We have to rooms and we requested adjoining, but of course they didn't give us adjoining they were a few doors down from each other. We arrived 9:30PM from a veryyyy long travel day and the front desk was not nice at all. You would expect some better hospitality at a place like this. The next day, Gilbert helped us get the adjoining rooms, (still a little bit of a process but thank you Gil) he was great. I want to mention on our first full day here the water main broke and we had no running water for upwards of 8 hours. Most of the pool area was closed and we had to cancel our dinner reservations because the water didn't come back on until 8:30PM. This wasn't the hotel's fault, but they weren't willing to give the guests ANYTHING for the inconvenience. Ideally, we wanted to stay here and go on some excursions etc so we rented a car. $80/daily for car rental, $55 daily resort fee per room (we have 2) plus a daily resort tax and excise tax per room. Just be prepared if you are thinking of coming. Resort is ridiculously overpriced for how outdated and poor quality everything is. I will give you some examples- there is only 1 tiny garbage can in each room (located in the bathroom), no dimmers-so prepare for the brightest possible light in your room and the bathroom at all times. iIn the KING SIZE bedrooms at the Molokini Tower Suites, the Tv faces the side of the bed, so you can sit there and strain your neck like a dummy if you ever want to watch the non-smart TV. Bugs and fruit flies everywhere. How are you charging me $12 for a croissant on a sticky tray I just saw bugs crawling around? Then when we sat outside the overpriced cafe- there were ants everywhere. When we were in the pool, it was dirty- where is the filtration? Location is the only reason this place gets 2 stars, it is close to the beach and other stuff you may want to explore. Nobu experience was also nice and we will see how the Lu-Au goes. Otherwise this place would be a ZERO. I wouldn't stay here again. No other meaningful activities for the kids other than pool.

Positives: location and grounds Why I won’t go back: waaaay overpriced for what you get. building is tired and showing wear. Pool attendants: not cleaning up in a timely manner. Birds get into the food and causes a mess. Birds then poop everywhere - including towels and clothes. Granted, the vacationers are 90% entitled and don’t clean up after themselves, but I fished several bags out of the pool and put them in the walkway - employees just walked by and eventually they got back into the pool I finally threw them away and cleaned up the mess our seat neighbors left where about 50 birds were feasting. $75 a day for car parking and mandatory valet. Missed our dinner reservation because I called 4 times 30 mins before and no answer. Went down and it took them 25 mins to get my car. You force me to use valet and then can’t actually get my vehicle? $55 a day for resort fee and limited to no benefit. Beach chairs are gone by 7. 2 reusable water bottles - we had 4 in our group. zero value for the “fee” Dining - at least double what the food is worth. went offsite after the first night and found much better options for way less Pools - much less impressive than reviews would show. tough to find chairs First and last time going there. Went to Aulani twice and its heads and shoulders above GW. I recommend staying somewhere else.
