Lava Lava Beach Club

One of my favorite places on the Big Island. Food is delicious and you can't beat the location. Perfect for families. Adults can sit and enjoy their drinks and finish their meals while kids play in the sand. We had a sea turtle swim up near rocks where kids were sitting and they were amazed (FYI you are not allowed to swim near the turtles or touch them in Hawaii). Definitely will go again.

Beware of Lava Lava Beach Club in Waikoloa!!! They have a $61 "PARKING SCAM" going on. Very limited free restaurant parking (~10 spaces), so parked in the paid parking lot next to them as there were signs saying they "validate" at the Lava Lava Beach Club. When we arrived I gave the hostess the car license information to validate the parking. No receipt of validation, but rather a nod from the hostess. I had a group of 10 people, spent $1100+. To my surprise it was not validated and I was charged $61 for parking. Reached out to the parking company and was told it wasn't their issue. Reached out to Lava Lava and spoke with Kalena Medeiros Kimi who seemed to very helpful in getting a refund to me and forwarded my refund request to the parking company. Apparently I would be refunded with a check sent to me. 3 months later with quite a bit email and phone correspondences and requests, I have still not received the $61 refund. Responses were sent to me saying it would be refunded soon. Called again today to discuss my refund with Cassidy Serion at Diamond Parking. She claimed it is based on "priority" to issue refunds and got defensive telling me someone else had to issue it, not her. 3+ months I guess is not a priority to Diamond Parking. So I asked her if this was a parking scam, and she claimed she would put me on hold, while she reached out to the company who needs to issue the refund. Then promptly I was hung up on to never be heard again. Please note that Kalena from Lava Lava was cc'd on the email correspondence and has never tried to contact me again on this issue either. I did try to dispute this with the Credit Card company, but since payment is with the parking lot it was denied. $61 is highway robbery to be able to go to Lava Lava Beach Club on false premises of validated parking...DO NOT GO HERE!! Reporting to the BBB also.

Ambiance and location are amazing, but the food was under whelming and we left disappointed. We ordered the ceviche; shrimp was rubbery and dish lacked a citrus flavor. The Hook of the Day fish was overcooked, dry and needed every bit of the mango salsa. New York steak was an extra fatty cut and the entire dish arrived to the table tepid. We’ve had much better meals while on the island.
