Best Western River North

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in early August. It was a fantastic location for getting out and seeing the sights. We walked just about everywhere, plus there was a Target and a Walgreens nearby for any forgotten items, which proved convenient for grabbing late-night snacks and beverages to enjoy on the rooftop patio. Also around the block was Portillo’s, which we enjoyed more than once! We thought the value of the room was reasonable and the staff friendly. I loved the size of the room, it has a bit more floor space than some other BWs I’ve stayed in. Like other reviews, if you are sensitive to loud noise, the traffic was constant (cars, sirens, pedestrians), so you may want to search other places. Also, I noticed a few other reviews mention the smell of the hallways; yes, there is a very strong smell, like a chemical deodorant. We didn’t hang out in the hallways, so it didn’t bother us at all, but again, if you are really sensitive to smells, just be aware. On the whole the Best Western delivered everything we were looking for in our stay in Chicago and I hope we will be able to return.

This was a great location for our quick overnight visit to Chicago. We visited the Shedd Aquarium before we headed to the hotel and after check-in we walked to Green Street Smoked Meats and the Museum of Ice Cream. The next morning we visited Ed Debevics right down the road for breakfast and loved it. There’s so much to do just steps away from the hotel. On-site parking was also a plus to help avoid extra stress driving in the downtown area. We booked a family suite and it was perfect for myself, husband and our 2 young life with plenty of extra room. We enjoyed the separate living room too. Can confirm the street noise is LOUD as other reviewers mentioned and it truly is all night and into the morning. Not much the hotel can do about that besides maybe providing ear plugs? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Also a quick note that the elevator is SMALL. Like 3 ppl max without feeling squished or awkward. We managed to jam ourselves in with our kids and 2 strollers. Would stay here again for short stays.
