Best Western University Plaza

Very nice hotel, great location, very comfortable. Lot s of shops and restaurants nearby, decent hotel breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms.

We stayed here three years ago and enjoyed our stay. This time however I immediately noticed it was not fairing well. The lobby carpet is stained in many places and needs replacing. There was actual trash on the lobby floor, paper and a used water bottle. The remote control for the tv was old rubber which made it feel gummy in your hand. The tv has no streaming options and we had to turn the tv off and back on to access the channel guide. Worst of all was the restaurant. We were greeted for breakfast, but not in a friendly way. Since I’d already noticed that the cleanliness was lacking in the rest of the hotel I checked out the buffet before sitting down. At this time, the restaurant had been open for 43 minutes. The two juice dispensers barely had anything in them and they did not appear clean. It was as if it was juice from the day before. The coffee dispensers looked worse. The counter was also visibly dirty. We decided to have breakfast elsewhere. We will try a different hotel next time we come to Evanston. I can’t stand staying somewhere that feels dirty.

Staff seen over worked and not focused on any level of basic customer service. A fully booked hotel is not an excuse. Room was marginally clean (beds are comfy). Fitness center is a wreck with broken equipment. Pricing does not reflect the poor quality.
