My husband and I stayed at the Itasca/Wood Dale Marriott from August 27th to September 6th. As long-time Marriott loyalists who stay at their properties for almost all of our vacations, this stay was by far the worst experience we have ever had.
We specifically chose this location for our 10-day trip to celebrate our son’s graduation from Navy boot camp and revisit our old home in Wood Dale. We booked it relying heavily on advertised amenities like common spaces, outdoor areas, microwave access, and guest laundry. Instead, the property delivered broken promises across the board:
* Unkept Grounds & Facilities: The outdoor grounds were filthy and unmanaged, and the pool was noticeably dirty.
* Broken AC & Comfort Issues: Air conditioning was down throughout the entire hotel outside of individual guest rooms. The common areas were sweltering, while the rooms fluctuated uncomfortably between freezing cold and hot.
* Missing & Broken Amenities: There were no microwaves available, and the guest washer and dryer were completely out of order; forcing us to spend a whole day of our trip at a local laundromat.
* Hostile Service in Common Areas: Because the room was our only comfortable option, we tried using the lobby/common area to play cards as a family while enjoying our own snacks and sodas. The kitchen manager was outright dreadful, threatening to kick us out of the hotel for simply gathering there. We ended up trapped in our room for 10 days, playing cards on an ironing board. Marriott properties are usually welcoming to families sharing space, but the management here made us feel completely unwelcome.
The Only Bright Spot:
The housekeepers did a thorough, wonderful job with our room, and the front desk staff were consistently friendly. We genuinely felt bad for them having to work in such sweltering indoor temperatures.
That said, friendly front desk staff cannot make up for broken amenities, unmanaged grounds, and abusive management. This hotel is completely run down and not up to Marriott standards. Save your money and book elsewhere.

I was looking for the right place to host a multi-day friends and family reunion, one that could serve as a convenient base for trips into the city, suburban shopping, and time to rest, relax, and gather in a meeting room on the final day. We could not have chosen a better location. The hotel was clean, modern, and affordable, and the staff was attentive to our needs. It had a nice indoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center and a beautiful courtyard. From my first meeting with Marlene, the Sales Manager, through final checkout with Thalia, every need was met. Special thanks to Marlene, Thalia, Yogi, and Blend for being available to address any questions or requests.

Hotel is clean and convenient to Chicago O’Hare airport with a nice courtyard and pool. John at the front desk went above and beyond to help with leaving our car during our trip and transportation to the airport!
