Crowne Plaza O'Hare

Do not stay at this hotel. I stayed there with my family and when we first enter the hotel room it reeked of marijuana. Next, we go to take a shower and there was no shower curtain. We quickly ran out of soap and called them for about and hour and a half trying to ask them to refill it. They kept saying they would and didn’t come. When they finally refilled it they filled it full of lotion. The reason they have such a good rating is because they give out free drinks and snacks to people who will give them thumbs up and 5 star rating. Beside from all of this the staff was very kind and welcoming but they did not have good customer service.

Fairly standard conference hotel. Location is in Rosemont, and is walking distance from some decent restaurants. Also, the soundproofing is pretty good - I didn't hear that many planes despite proximity to O'Hare. Barkeeping and food were okay. Nothing fancy, but if the weather keeps you from leaving, you'll be fine. They did a better job with the catering for our reception and banquets, which was quite decent. The best part was the elevators - fast and they all worked all weekend. (It's sad when that's the bar, but it really is). Downsides? A/C in my room was so loud I had to turn it off at night to have any hope of sleeping, which would have been bad in August. The hotel is clearly late in its renovation cycle. A few things here and there were broken and new carpet was clearly needed in a few public areas. Nothing serious, but it's definitely tired and needed a refresher. Also, my keys stopped working during my stay. This isn't normally a big deal - those systems glitch occasionally - but the front desk insisted it was because I "had them too close to my credit cards." That hasn't been a thing in years, it was both keys, and one of them hadn't been in my wallet (I keep a backup key in my work bag). I don't mind the keys failing, it happens. I mind it being put on me when that clearly wasn't the case. I did have a good stay, but I probably wouldn't choose this one if it wasn't being chosen for me.
