La Quinta Inn & Suites Downtown

I'd give them room 8.5 out of 10. The parking was a hassle and cost us $86. The breakfast tasted good, but they could not keep up with the crowd of diners. Pending room charges on my credit card app lingered for far too long. The room charge that appeared for days was almost double, and there was an additional charge of $150 which made no sense at all. That amount was pending for nine days! Overall, the experience ended up being too stressful.

The hotel and amenities were good for location in financial district. Parking garage located right adjacent to hotel. Don’t fall for the $64 per night as shown on hotel site. We stayed 2 nights which would have been $128 for parking. I got on SpotHero app and it was $67 for entire stay with no in/out privilege. Scan QR code to get in and scan QR code to get out at end of stay. The main issue with the hotel was the CC holds. I prepaid for hotel with Priceline and brought a dog. So figuring a $50 hold for dog (2 nights at $25/night) as shown in hotel policies and a $100 hold for incidentals and charged the $30 some Chicago city hotel fee plus tax which is clearly listed on Priceline Itinerary at checkout. The issue was the hotel placed a $150 hold, placed a $328 hold and attempted to place a $198 hold early morning day of checkout which declined thank god. Long story short the hotel depleted my available credit on card on day one after checkin. Not Cool when you are in Chicago. Luckily I had $500 cash on me but the extra $350 available on credit card would have been nice. Very inconvenient.

Although the staff at this hotel is generally very customer friendly I would reconsider staying here. Although we experienced an issue during our stay and the manager was very accomadating in terms of a resolution, the hotel needs a serious refresh as the rooms have seen some wear and tear. The location however is excellent and the Poetry garage next door is convenient. Tip: check your mattress on arriving
