Best Western Paradise Inn

This was a second stay at this Best Western. The check-in was smooth even though I had added an extra night separately via my online account and had rewards cards to use up. The young desk guy was very pleasant and even offered to push the luggage cart to our room. The lobby has complimentary coffee, tea, and a dispenser of cold water—snacks to purchase. We booked a MOBILITY room, which was very SPACIOUS, including the closet with mirrored sliding doors. Amenities included a lounge chair with ottoman, nice large flat screen tv, plenty of lights, a desk and chair, a luggage bench, and a small “kitchen station,” with typical small coffee machine, microwave (on the small side), and small fridge. Hard to locate an outlet to charge phones. The room and bathroom were very CLEAN. The bed and pillows were comfy, if a bit on the soft side. The bathroom was also spacious and very clean, with plenty of towels and washcloths. Towels could be fluffier. There were bottle dispensers (12 oz?) of soap, shampoo, conditioner attached to the walls. The tub was not too high to step into and the shower head could be adjusted to a preferred height, or removed to use as a hand-held—nice!! Water pressure was good and so was the temp. A small bath stool without a back was available (height adjustable). The bath had a grab bar at the back end, which was not useful, if using the bath chair. The bar that the shower head slid up and down on was sturdy enough to hold onto to get in and out, but I don’t think that’s its purpose. Also, there was no bar along the long wall of the shower, which would be needed for some, if standing to shower. There was a big bar alongside the toilet, but the toilet paper dispenser was on the wall next to the tank and hard to reach. There was a blow dryer. I would rave about the bathroom, if there was a bar added to the shower, softer towels, and the toilet dispenser was relocated, but overall it was pretty good! One issue with the room was the a/c. It worked great during daytime and early evening hours, but late at night, it would shut off completely, if set on “auto.” It had to be switched to “continuous,” which was chilly, or the room was too warm. The thermostat was on the wall, instead of the unit controls for adjustment, so maybe the hotel had it set to go off at a certain time??? Weird. My only major complaint was breakfast, which was supposed to be available from 6-9 a.m. They advertise “continental” online, such as biscuits and gravy, and breakfast burritos, but never saw those. The first day, the most substantial offering was Jimmy Dean’s English muffins with egg and cheese, no meat. The second day was scrambled eggs and sausage, but it was all gone by 7:30 and no staff in sight. The third day was Jimmy Dean’s again (eww). Aside from that, it was cold cereal, toast, bagels, apples, and yogurt from a machine (which I never trust to be clean, or fresh to eat anywhere). I settled for just bagels and cream cheese. Breakfast was cheap and insufficient considering the cost of the rooms. The pool was closed, though we didn’t care and the workout room looked nice, though we didn’t use it. LOverall, though, a decent stay. It’s a SAFE area, with a large grocery store and fast food nearby. The most inexpensive gas in the entire Champaign-Urbana area was just down the road in Savoy at Murphy’s!!! I would stay here again.

The plus sign was everything was vey clean. The breakfast was minimal no milk yogurt . I don’t think was even cereal maybe I missed that. The bed was hard. I lamps had pull chains on them by the bed. There was only one place to plug in your phones in which I think it was a inconvenience. The shampoo containers were tiny

We were in town for a sporting event at the university. The location is quite convenient to campus, and easily reached. The hotel was full but quiet and laid-back. The room was fine — nothing too modern about it, but it was solid. The bed was comfy, the shower was hot with good water pressure. The dining area is small compared to a lot of similar hotels. If I ever return to this area, I'd be fine staying here again.
