The Columbia Club

Stayed here with a group - this was our base. The hotel is old but the rooms are fully updated, unlike some classic hotels in, say, NYC which haven't updated the rooms since 1945. There are plenty of historical artifacts in the hotel which prove interesting, dating from its time as Republican headquarters in Indianapolis. Located on Memorial Circle, it's a great location literally central to everything. The restaurant has good food at surprising prices for a hotel, and the staff is very friendly (albeit a few of them were not always fonts of information regarding local transportation, routes or attractions). If you want to stay somewhere comparable to any good chain hotel but with a lot of history and mahogany thrown into the mix, this is a good choice.

Beautiful historic building right in the middle of all the entertainment spots in Indy. Walked to the comedy club, the stadium and spark on the circle. The rooms are beautifully appointed, big soft bed. The Harrison room dinner was delicious with old school service.

I was supposed to stay here the end of June on a 90 degree day. The lobby and common areas were not air conditioned as I entered the hotel but I had hopes that my room would be. I got to my room and the window was open with tape and a random plastic vent- which was just bringing in outside air. The air conditioner didn’t work so i went back to the front lobby and they initially said to just wait in my room for an engineer to come fix it. (Which was a form of torture since it was 90 degrees and humid) So i went back down to the lobby and they proceeded to put me into another room where the air conditioning didn’t work. It was pretty clear they don’t have functioning air conditioning- or at least a system that can compete with 90 degree weather. So i asked for a refund - i was very polite and just said that They can give me a refund or i can submit a case with my credit card company since i have pictures (but if I have to submit a case with my credit card company I will give bad reviews. So i left it up to them). They said sorry we won’t give you a refund. So here is my promised bad review 😃.
