My wife and I stayed two nights at the Orchard Hill Inn in Nashville, Brown County, Indiana, close to Brown County State Park and downtown Nashville. It was a very good location and had a nice pond and forest view in back. While the exterior of the building needs an upgrade, the inside has been renovated and is nice and clean. It was also very inexpensive compared to nearby chain hotels; we stayed Tuesday and Wednesday nights for probably $50 less than two nights at a close-by chain hotel. While it does not have onsite staff (you check in at another nearby motel), a pool or a weight room, it is all you need on a budget. Try to stay during the week (Sun-Thurs nights) for the best rates. We also ate a very good, hot buffet breakfast at a nearby hotel that was included in our rate. If you're looking for luxury, this is NOT the motel for you, but if you want a comfortable, clean, inexpensive place to stay in Brown County, I would recommend this motel.

Overall this place was very clean. The only thing that wasn't was the shower curtain. It was full of mildew on the bottom. Check in was easy, the $5 coupons for the breakfast buffet were excellent, we should have bought enough for two mornings. The king bed was very comfortable. There is a small ice machine available, but it would probably not be enough if the place was full. There was only one other room occupied.

My sisters and I have made reservations at Orchard Hill Inn for the last 5 years. The first 3 years we were sure we had found our forever spot for annual sisters weekend. Last year they moved us to a cabin with not very much notice, though the cabin was really nice. This year we arrived, the parking lot was not cleared (10 inches of snow two days before), told us we were in room 8 only to find out when we got there our room was 7. We were the only ones there. We took our stuff inside, turned on the heater and went to town to shop. When we got back a few hours later the room temperature was 60 degrees. We called the maintenance person and he said we had the heat turned too high and it couldn't keep up. He called back about 10 minutes later to see if it was any warmer... no! Told us we could move down to room 10 or get an oil heater from the laundry room. Room 10 was bigger but after letting the heater run for 30 minutes we stayed in room 7 because it was "warmer". We never saw the maintenance person. My sister went and got the heater from the employee laundry room. We slept in our clothes wrapped in blankets under the covers. The experience was terrible being that it was in the 20's. Not to mention the room was dusty, the tub had "hair" in it, the shower curtain had yellow "water line" on it and there were coffee stains on the table that we wiped up. Too bad this experience left us with a feeling that we will never go back. Amy
