This was an enjoyable stay. Check in went seamlessly with their no-contact messaging. We liked how you don't need a key to keep track of. We also really enjoyed their complimentary snacks. Breakfast was ok, but don't expect much. The room was roomy, clean and quiet. It met our expectations and fulfilled our needs.

We booked Highbrook totally taking a chance on the property and it paid off. Adam, the gentleman who is invisible but responds to texts in seconds (is a REAL person). The property: Conveniently located just outside Acadia National Park as well as downtown Bar Harbor. Rooms are spotlessly clean and all the amenities in the room where thoughtfully set up and in working condition. A bit dated, but am not complaining at all. Dont expect a view of the National Park or the water but then you are mostly in the room to sleep at night...rest of the time is spent outdoors - again this is not a complaint but something to set expectations. The best part about Highbrook is their 'supply room' - which is stocked amazingly well with attention to details and they do not charge a single extra $$ for this. Breakfast is wholesome - and delivered on time to the doorstep. You may have to go and heat it up. There is no room service, which they state upfront - but they send fresh towels and sheets, etc. on demand (dont expect it at midnight) - via a web based app. All in all - if you are looking for a quaint, quiet, considerate, clean, thoughtful, convenient, responsive, courteous and wonderful place that does not nickel and dime you - go ahead and book Highbrook!

We’re leaving the Highbrook today. As seasoned travelers, I want to share our critique of this little retro throwback motel. We were thrilled. I came to Bar Harbor in the late 70s as a kid and stayed in motels like this. We stayed in room 23 at the motel’s second driveway. Big oaks and pines surround the motel giving a cozy, rustic setting. We had a reserved parking spot in front of our room and our room was SPACIOUS. I appreciate the front screen door and window in the bathroom, both letting in fresh Maine air. We don’t like living out of suitcases so we liked the dresser and closet space. The bed is large and comfortable. There is a small but adequate eating area and an additional sitting area. The bathroom was adorable. Retro pale green tiles, throwback Formica sink tops with cute little patterns. There was a nightlight in the bathroom which was super handy. 2 sink / wash areas were very also convenient. The front porch has a comfy sitting area screened off and divided for privacy which was great! Other people didn’t walk right past the big picture window which we kept open for natural light and the wooded view. I’m a graphic designer so I notice clean lines and good color. The Highbrook has that. And talk about clean.. housekeeping does a fantastic job. We tipped them but they were priceless. The motel, inside and out, is spotless. That carries over to the common snack room at the center of the motel. We filled our water bottles with ice and water daily. No scooping of ice wth a dirty scoop. This was a true ice machine and water dispenser. Great snacks and refrigerated drinks were available and we enjoyed movie style popcorn 🍿 more than once. Fun! Lastly, the location is great. We rented E-bikes from Island Time (highly recommend) and we were so close to the park entrance. We rode the carriage roads several days and parked at trail heads. It was the best way to see the great spots in the park. Don’t be intimidated by the shuttle. It picks you up in front of the hotel every 30 minutes and drops you right downtown seamlessly.. bus #2. Otherwise parking is a challenge and very expensive. Yep.. Highbrook was pretty adorable and pretty perfect!
