Brewster Inn

My wife and I stayed at the Brewster Inn for the third time recently, and we will keep coming back. The Inn is not only well decorated paying homage to it's local history, but the private rooms are also very clean and comfortable. The hosts always make us feel very welcomed and very hospitable. The Inn provides a comfortable and safe place to stay, while visiting Dexter and the surrounding area.

This place is overrated. Unfortunately, if you are attending a wedding at Sunset Meadows, there is not much choice! Mark should not be in the hospitality business. He falls short of being hospitable. The rooms are over priced. We stayed in the Evesham. With tax it was over $150 per night. Our room was quite small with only 1 chair to sit on. One other guest in our party also said their room was small with one chair. Another said there was no chair. There was no table or desk to set anything on if you wanted cheese and crackers and a glass of wine. I know there were a couple of larger rooms with more amenities, but for considerably more money. The water pressure in the shower was pitiful. The breakfasts were mediocre at best. It consisted of a breakfast casserole, some toast or bagel with butter and jam. Fruit consisted of a few picked grapes... no fresh juice, just bottled cranberry juice. Tina greeted us when we arrived and was pleasant. Then Mark appeared and as I was rolling a suitcase across the hardwood floor (nothing special), I was told not to do that and to please carry my suitcase to the carpeted hall... He did carry it for me. Then Tina showed me to our room while my husband parked the car. I was shown the closet (a cubby with a drape), the luggage rack, the bathroom and the TV... totally unnecessary! I cannot figure out how this place received so many positive reviews!!

My wife and I stayed at The Brewster Inn for the second time recently and we found it as fantastic as the first time. Our room was immaculate and our breakfasts absolutely delicious. We spent hours in or sitting by the beautiful garden. So relaxing. Mark is quite the cicerone, so be sure to take his advice on the beer selections. Mark and Tina are not only phenomenal hosts, they are just great people. I love talking to them and hearing about the area and their interests as well. This is one place we will return to again and again. If you are looking for a place in Maine to have as a base camp or if you are just looking for a relaxing getaway, look no further, this is the place to stay.
