Knights Inn South Portland

This motel is now called Budget Inn. We booked through booking.com with no issues. The room was clean, but dated. It did smell a bit musty [age related for sure], but running the air conditioner helped, and the AC worked well. The bed was comfortable. Microwave and mini fridge were a nice touch. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. Wifi worked well. If you are looking for a fancy stay, this is not it. If you read the name and expect a budget stay, that is what you get. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. We did have an incident where another guest smoked in their room [despite clearly marked no smoking signs on each door], the fire alarm went off and the fire department had to attend. The owner/attendant handled it well and was apologetic even though it was not their fault.

Very Clean room, but needs new carpet/floor covering. Basic supplies provided. The bed was a king and very good. Air conditioning worked well. Laundry facility needed a good clean. Reception staff helpful.

Booked hotel through Travelocity and received confirmation. Upon checking, however, clerk advised me he was not accepting reservations from Travelocity. He was rather adamant and began yelling. He became even more enraged when I asked about morning coffee/Continental Breakfast service. Said he did not offer this at all. Although the hotel boasted WiFi, it did not exist in our room. Only if you stood outdoors could you get a (very weak) signal. Wasn't until we got home and looked into it when we read that the hotel had just been cited for drug and prostitution activity and the town was looking to shut them down. Just Stay Away!!!
