COMFORT INN & SUITES

I asked for an upgrade to a suite to use the pullout for our group. I was told I would be charged $50 for the upgrade. Later we attempted to use the pullout, but it was unusable. The mattress offered no support at all and the springs could be felt sticking in our backs. It was not uncomfortable, it was painful. I asked for a refund of the $50 up charge for the suite. The manager on duty was called over, Lenny Carver, and he was quite rude to me. I didn’t get to tell him anything as the front desk employee explained my request, he looked at me and said, “No, I am NOT giving you a refund. You got a suite with all kinds of space. Everyone knows pullouts are uncomfortable.” Before I could say anything he turned and walked away.

Unfortunately, I couldn't give this hotel an average rating because of my experience. The location is good in regards to proximity to stores, restaurants, etc. The staff was generally friendly. The room I requested was quiet, on the top floor and it certainly met that expectation. It was clean, great storage and use of the space. The complimentary breakfasts were good, lots of options (even healthy ones). The staff who were present were VERY helpful and kept the areas clean and stocked. There was a well outfitted gym with a stationary bike, ellipticals and treadmills. There were also free weights. There was an indoor pool that I saw from the door but can't comment further as I didn't go into it. Even though the bed linens weren't changed daily (and I'm OK with that), I would've appreciated it to at least be "made" up or straightened up. This did not happen daily. I guess it depended on who the housekeeper happened to be that day. The real issue I had is that I had a bottle of perfume "disappear" on my second day. I reported this to the night staff via phone when I noticed it missing. I was told it would be "looked into". The next morning I asked the day desk staff if anything was mentioned. She was unaware and instead gave me a form to fill out describing the event. Never heard anything again from anyone other than that same person asked me if I had heard anything. I had even mentioned that all I requested would be that it would be returned to my room, no questions asked. That did not happen. I have travelled extensively in the US as well as Europe and Mexico. I have NEVER had anything taken from my room. I have been to Mexico over 15 times and even left jewelry and money out on my dresser without incident. Because of that particular issue, I will not recommend that particular location to anyone.

Let me start by saying, I read the reviews but discounted them because I am pretty sure we stayed here years ago for a event in Unity Maine and had a decent stay. This time, for the night of Sept 7, 2025 myself and a bunch of friends booked a few suites and a few rooms for an event in Sidney, Maine. We didn't book as a group, but we got lucky and 3 of our 5 rooms were on the 4th floor. We got back late and stayed up a little late catching up-so I asked for a late check out, which they obliged and gave me till noon. I got up with plenty of time, but if you know this place it's a bit of a maze and I had to go find a bell cart. I was loading up the bell cart at just a few minutes past noon then I was putting trash in the baskets and doing a last bit of tidying...when as I was literally about to walk out the housekeeper on the 4th floor started yelling at me...it was past time. I said, "I know (like doesn't she see the cart?) I am walking out now". This lady clearly has never worked with customers before (or maybe she is one of the reasons this place has abysmal reviews?!?!?) because even as I walked out she went on and on about how I wasn't honoring the sacred oath I took when I accepted the late check out...I'm only half joking...this lady was actually having a good time speaking to me like a child even though I was already leaving (oh and I took my tip I had left them because I was so pissed). This lady doesn't belong around people in any capacity. We all agreed otherwise we had a solid stay but this left such a sour taste in my mouth. People have options and if this was my business I would want to know how people are being treated. Sure, I was running a few minutes late. Maybe I should have been executed!?!?! I asked her, "I guess you have never been running late". Whatever drug she quit cold turkey to be in such a bad mood, maybe she should ween herself off it next time... HOLIDAY INN WATERVILLE, MAINE - NEVER AGAIN!!!
