The River Gem B&B

I only stayed here for 1 night but everything was just perfect. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. A great restaurant with an awesome view is within walking distance. Breakfast was phenomenal with homemade selections. A truly perfect stay. Would definitely stay here again.

River Gem is appropriately named but Mona is the true gem of this bnb. She is the most gracious host. She is part chef part concierge part inn keeper and part artist. The vintage house is decorated & appointed with beautifully coordinated color themes. Attention to detail seems to be a top priority for this establishment. I stayed in the Ruby room. It was spacious and beautiful. It had its own bath room which was also large. Robes and slippers are provided. Parking is off the street. That are two porches with rocking chairs. Breakfast is served between 7:30 & 9:00. It is a multi course meal served at a time you request. The breakfast is chef's choice (and I am NOT using the word chef loosely.) Mona's culinary prowess is worthy of the title Chef. The offerings are delivered to each dinner in a formal style. The quantity was abundant and varied enough that if one of the courses was not your taste you would still have more than you could eat. When you call to make reservations Mona will ask if there are any food issues or dislikes. I forgot to mention my husbands dislike of spicy food she was still very accommodating and gracious.

I have been staying at the River Gem for many years; sometimes with my mom, my husband and occasionally by myself. It just gets better and better each time. Mona, Violet and Aurora make you feel so welcome. Its a feeling like you are visiting old friends or family. The town is definitely worth a checking out. We always take a walk through the downtown area and check out one of two of the shoppes then its down to the riverwalk and through the community garden. Its certainly is a relaxing stop after a long drive. Next time we have to check out XO's- the new coffee shoppe!!- real cute shoppe with a pretty little park next door.
