Comfort Suites Auburn Hills

This MainStay Suites in Auburn Hills needs a complete overhaul in honesty, safety, and communication. Let me start with the biggest problem: the elevator has been down for a while, and guests are not informed at check-in. There are zero posted signs anywhere in the building. Anyone with mobility challenges or heavy luggage is completely blindsided. Next, the side exit door by the dumpster does not lock, meaning anyone from the street can walk right in. As a female traveler, that is a major red flag. The entire property is advertised one way online but delivers something totally different: No breakfast whatsoever. No coffee. WiFi that cuts out every few minutes. A “24-hour front desk” that simply… isn’t. Calls go unanswered routinely. We also had an uncomfortable encounter with a man claiming to be “the VP,” who approached us in a stairwell in a confrontational manner without proper identification. The whole situation felt unprofessional and unnecessarily intimidating. If you’re looking for a safe, accessible, accurately represented hotel—this is not it.

Super upset that we chose this hotel - it was absolutely disgusting and dirty. We saw roaches in the bathroom, the carpet and furniture (mainly the couch) was filthy. The chair was barely standing on wobbly legs. I was constantly scanning the walls for bugs. The rooms reeked of smoke, so much so that we asked management to inspect our room so they could verify it wasn’t us that was smoking, in case we got slammed with a “smoking charge” upon checkout. My daughter slept on the gross pull out couch which we had to literally cover in three sheets just to give me piece of mind that whatever yucky stuff was imbedded in the cushions wouldn’t touch her. I have never stayed at such a dilapidated “hotel” in my life. I will say that the only positive was that it was pretty quiet, despite the weirdos hanging out on the door step - oh, and btw, the exit door was never locked a single day or night we were there, allowing anyone to come in randomly at any time. Never been so happy to leave a place in my life.

The elevator wasn't working & we had a 3rd floor room. The person at reception was pleasant & helpful. The room could've been cleaner for sure.
