Court Plaza Inn & Suites

We stayed at Court Plaza Inn & Suites for our last night after the huge let down at the Ramada Inn Waterfront. I wish I had found CP earlier and stayed the whole three nights. First of all, CP is privately owned so I would be supporting a local business instead of adding to the riches of corporations. It’s a lot cleaner and brighter. It’s on the main street on the strip thus nearer to everything (6 minute walk to the dock to the faster Shepler’s ferry; RI is a minute walk to the second dock, but the Star Line’s ferry there is slower.) The front desk person, Dan, was very patient. I came back three times asking questions before renting because I had to make sure first that RI would let me cancel the third night without charge. Bottom line: It’s a great place for much less than RI. Disclosure: We didn’t have time to use any of their amenities.

This older hotel is very basic but met our needs. Beds were comfortable; room was clean. We did have to plug in the fridge, but it cooled pretty quickly. It's easily walkable to dining, shopping and the ferry, which was nice because we could leave our car at the hotel and not have to pay for parking at the ferry. We did not use the pool or hot tub.

When you arrive, you will find the refrigerator OFF and the door open. If you have medication, baby food, dairy products etc. that need to come out of your cooler after a day of travel …into a refrigerator…, if will take 4-6 and possibly up to 12 hours for it to be safe to put them in these refrigerators. I have stayed in thousands of hotels and never have I encountered a hotel or motel that leaves the refrigerators off and open. The front desk staff and manager on duty seemed surprised that this not the norm, looked at me like I had 2 heads, told me to make sure it was plugged in, on and said it would cool quickly, which is simply not the case. They didn’t offer to put our items in a hotel refrigerator until ours could come down to a safe temperature. So, in addition to us having to make efforts to keep our items cold we feel we received a poor response to our concerns. As far as the other room details, it is older but clean, good TV channels and bed/pillows were ok. Good location to be able to walk to things. These things were outweighed by us having to make extra efforts due to the refrigerator and the poor response from staff regarding that.
