Most hotels in Mackinaw City are a bit run down due to the fact that they close down for the COLD winter months and so it doesn't surprise me that owners don't necessarily want to invest a lot of money in a property when it's only open from mid-April to October. That being said, the Mackinaw Beach and Bay was a pleasant surprise after reading some of the remarks from past guests on Tripadvisor. Yes, the hotel is dated and a tad run down, but the rooms were relatively clean and it was so nice to see that all 14 of the rooms in our group had a view of the beach! There was a pool and hot tub, but the hot tub was about the size of a large thimble. The other downer is that there isn't a lot of places to eat out within walking distance, and because breakfast wasn't included, we ate elsewhere. Given that, the pricing for the busiest weekend of the year (Labor Day) was quite reasonable compared with some of the crazy pricing at other properties in the town.

Very bad customer service and room is not clean and toilet paper is missing Some lighter not working and it’s I paid $600 for 2 nights and it’s not worth it at all and no breakfasts.

I was extremely disappointed by the service at check-in. I requested a room on the 4th floor, and while I fully understand that floor requests cannot always be guaranteed, the front desk staff was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to communicate politely or explain alternative options. I ended up having to take a room on the 2nd floor. A simple, polite explanation would have changed the entire experience. Hospitality is about how you treat your guests, and this interaction made me feel completely unwelcome. For a hotel in a major tourist destination, I expected far better professionalism.
