I heard about this place when I was a kid and made the stupid decision to stay here after reading multiple warnings online. The lobby had a clear urine smell to it. Perhaps that was the kid crawling around in the diaper, perhaps it's been there longer. It's been there longer. I expected quirky but I didn't expect sub Par. The hotel boasted "Newly Renovated." The AC could not bring the room below 86-degrees after an hour. They told me that was normal. I call bull-crap. Fast forward, they told me to get another room and they would give me a full refund so I wouldn't post a negative review. I did. They didn't. They only refunded one night. Here's my $109 review because they won't refund it! Stay away from this place. The locals told me that they are making all of their money on a mining company paying 100% rack rate. They stole $108 of mine so I posted this review.

It's all a horror, dirty, nasty, nothing good, the motels in the same city have the same price, and they're much better, this one should charge $20 a night. I really don't know how Sanitation doesn't shut it down. Don't stay asleep, the only good thing is that the village donkeys are nearby

It just needs to be redone. The National Park Service recommended this hotel to us when we couldn’t get into Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel. I looked at other options (should have looked harder) and decided to risk it for one night. The rooms are old, not “completely remodeled” as promised. Wood panelling, matching floors, rough/worn trim, 70s bedspreads, greyed sheets, stained chairs … it just makes you feel like everything is dirty even if it’s actually not. I wanted it to be the cool Area 51 inspired motel it was supposed to be but was disappointed. We put off going back to the rooms as late as we could and then left before sunrise. Sigh.
