Inn at Jackson

Comfortable and acceptable, with an old New England vibe in a quiet location, good breakfast included. For the price, it's a decent stay. This was my second three-night stay, and I would return. If you are seeking modern decor and amenities such as central air conditioning, you should move on. These rooms have window AC units, and some of the larger rooms do not get super cool. But you can also open the windows if that's agreeable. The bathroom was clean and functional. I always appreciate wall hooks, which these have. Yay. Also, they have a soap dish, so the little soap doesn't just sit on the edge of the sink. Not a lot of room for your toiletries, but there is a small shelf over the sink. The bedding was nice and fresh, but the beds themselves are a bit saggy. But I didn't wake up with a bad back! If you've ever lived in an old house of building, you'll understand that the hot water may take a long time to arrive, and that was very true here. But it did arrive. Free Wifi is available, but the signal is a little weak; it may depend on your room location. A few suggestions (may apply to only some rooms): a proper folding luggage rack, a night stand sufficient to hold a lamp, book/tablet, cell phone, water bottle. The breakfast menu has four offerings (omelette, scramble, pancakes, French toast), all of which come with bacon or sausage. Enjoyed it each morning. Breakfast starts at 8 am but a half-hour earlier would be nice for those of us heading out on an excursion. You can walk to a restaurants, and a small village of sorts, also a covered bridge.

The inn was beautiful. We were met at the door by the owner and he gave us a tour and history of the inn. Our room was spacious, clean and charming. The complimentary breakfast was tasty and very plentiful. We will definitely stay here again.

I am trying to reconcile the differences between the Inn at Jackson’s web site and positive reviews with our negative experience. We had no warning that this room was on the 3rd floor so did not enjoy carrying suitcases up three flights of stairs. Room from rugs to pillows to walls were dated. What was most disconcerting was that the top floor was not air conditioned. It did not appear that our small in room air conditioner had not been turned on in some time since the room registered 88 degrees when we entered. We complained and were told that it just needed a short amount of time for the air conditioner to work. We checked out after 2 days since this was not the case. We could not use the room during the day, and sleep was uncomfortable due to the nighttime heat. The breakfast was excellent and the location was convenient, but the entire facility needs updating. As frequent travelers, we have rarely had such a negative experience.
