AKA Central Park

I booked this hotel to recover from major surgery, expecting comfort, professionalism, and compassion. Instead, I experienced some of the worst service I have ever received. The room I was given was not what had been promised before my arrival. I then spent three days recovering in a dark room because a broken curtain was never repaired despite repeated requests. Leaving a post-operative guest in those conditions is simply inexcusable. For three days and I’m still waiting, I repeatedly asked to speak with a manager. Staff refused to connect me with one or even provide a contact number, leaving my concerns unresolved. The most alarming incident was when the hotel allowed two male staff members to enter my room without my permission while I was recovering in a wheelchair and my personal belongings and valuables were exposed. Instead of apologizing when I questioned why they had entered without my consent, Narval refused to complete the maintenance work and told me that I needed to “treat him with respect.” His attitude was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely lacking in empathy. Giovanni was equally disappointing. Despite the hotel knowing I required 24-hour nursing care after surgery, he refused to send deliveries to my room, forcing my nurse to repeatedly leave my side to collect them herself, even though another staff member had confirmed this service was included. What shocked me most was the complete lack of accountability. No urgency. No compassion. No meaningful support. Just excuses, poor communication, and a complete disregard for a guest recovering from major surgery. Luxury is defined by service, not décor. This hotel failed where it mattered most. I will be requesting a substantial refund and strongly encourage anyone expecting genuine luxury hospitality—or anyone travelling for medical recovery—to look elsewhere.

The rooms were horrible and the ACs made the worst noise ever. As if I stayed in a 3 star motel. They clean the rooms once a week and we paid as much as we would have paid in any 5 star renovated hotel. The managers are aware of the prooblem and offered a refund, but it was World Cup and couldn’t find rooms in 5 star hotels that period for the whole group! I felt cheated and deceived! I will never ever stay with any aka ever again !

This is a top notch place to stay right in the center of the greatest city in the world NYC… steps away from Central Park and Fifth Ave. The receptionist staff, hotel staff and cleaning staff are an awesome team always very receptive to all our needs. We have been coming for few years now and we will definitely repeat! Fabulous experience.
