Pictures are very edited. TV wasn't working. Small Amazon heater that doesn't help if it's 20-30 degrees. No hot water 2 out of 5 mornings. Wifi is very slow, don't plan on working or taking video meetings. This is hotel room, not a studio as listed.
I wouldn't have written a review and taken it as a 'you get what you pay for' situation but the toilet clogged and overflowed.
Messaged them at 7am via Airbnb because no one is in the front lobby until 11am. No reply, so I went downstairs at 1130.
After they find out toilet overflowed, lady immediately asks me 'what did I do'. I told her I just used it normally.
She says 'did you flush toilet paper' and I said yes.
Then she condescendingly says 'you should know not to flush toilet paper in America, especially New York'.
First, I have been to places in the U.S. with signs that warn you not to flush tp because of plumbing issues and I respect that and follow it. If she just said that their old building had issues I would've understood. If they had signs up or warned me, I would have followed their rules. Their tp is 1ply too so their plumbing must be really old.
Secondly, you have a thick foreign accent so please don't lie to me about a country I was born and raised in. I've been to plenty of hotels and airbnbs in New York and this has never been an issue.
Own up to your building's issues and warn ppl. Don't lie and seem like I don't know how to use the bathroom in the US. And with so much attitude.
Maintenance man who helped was nice.
Didn't offer to send cleaning ppl to clean up br.
I asked for more towels cause I had to use towels to mop floor. They have left me on read for more than 24 hours.
Avoid unless you can't afford better, I guess. Managers, keep that lady and her attitude away from customers.

We arrived at night.
We checked in the room # 1201
The room was very cold and the HVAC system did not operate.
Luckily we found two heaters in the closets and fired them up.
I didn't sleep well the first night because the room got hot.
I figured out the temperature setting for the room to keep us comfortable.
Our daughter slept in the great room with a very large glass window which was super cold. Her heater was barely adequate.
We also only received two towels and no hand towels or face towels.
The bed did not have blankets but only one thin comforter. I slept in my clothes all nights.
We called management repeatedly Finally close to the last night a man came to the room and looked at the thermostat he turned it on and told me it was working.
I explained him that it was not blowing warm air into the room only cold air.
He told me I was going to get him in trouble by complaining.
He left saying he would return but never did.
My main gripe is the thin blankets and the main heater didn't work.
We also blew a fuse using a hair dryer.
It was disappointing however the location made up for it and overall it was acceptable.
I've seen others complain about the heating system and so I know this has been a long and ongoing issue for this location.

Booked this property on VRBO. I was looking for an alternative to a hotel in NYC as I was traveling with adult children. This place is a complete SCAM. The listing on the VRBO website is a total bait and switch. The building is some type of co-living/student/halfway house. The pictures are completely misleading. As you walk in to check-in, the front desk person is sketchy and it seems like they are renting these rooms out on VRBO under false advertising. The room was a one bedroom with a bed outside of the room. You have to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom. Dirty sheets with yellow stains and hair on them. The couch broke as one of us sat down. Looks like a rundown motel, not a $988+ property in NYC. Everything from the communication with staff to the entire process was worrisome. To sum up our stay, we got into the room, realized what it was, and immediately took are bags, went downstairs and went to another hotel. We had to incur the cost as VRBO would not reimburse the fee. When I tried to get a refund from VRBO, they said the host would not respond to their requests for refund. I had no other contact with the property. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable hotel in NYC. I would also think twice about using VRBO. When I tried to leave a review, it does not come up on their which is a clear indication they are keeping the bad reviews out of this listing. This listing is a complete scam and will ruin your stay.
