Chauncey Hotel & Conference Center

I’d give this place a C minus — it’s not a d because of the free breakfast and salt water pool. It’s an older place in a great location so the brightness was great, but that only shed more light (literally) on the need for an upgrade for the worn carpets, the stained pillows and seats, and lack of overall maintenance in the lobby… that carried on to the dining room and to our room where we found socks and dirt in the drawers, a spider in our bathroom and hairs in the shower. Service was uneven — lacking most of the weekend but the dining room staff was helpful and friendly, as was the staff member at check out. Dinner food selection was good but when it (finally) arrived most was just lukewarm and was very uneven — the flatbread was underwhelming but the burata was amazing. While our room was mediocre, others in the wedding party had issues like no heat/air, a leaky fridge and broken tv; issues were the rule, not exception. If you can find another place in the area, as it was really pricey for the quality.

It is a very small 4 star. We don’t feel that the room we got was the room we paid for. Most of the staff were friendly and some went out of their way to make the stay better. Attie (bartender) is the only one I will name as one of the great people here. The conference center is situated in very nice surroundings. We could have wished for a restaurant for dinner, had to settle for the bar food (food was fine).

Great Hotel Great Food Great Weekend!!
