Why: traveling due to work Experience: Arrived, lovely lady named Kari at the counter, midnight. Requested non-smoking, went to room and opened door and it reeked of smoke. Due to allergies and sensitivity, I returned to the front desk and was given another room. Settling into another room I go to take a shower, the shower head and frozen in place staring at the wall. I attempted to shower like this, hugging the wall trying to grasp for water to no avail. Not my finest moment but I was tired, hot and sweaty after a long day. I redressed, went to the front desk and was given another room. I packed my things and went into the other room, it smelling minutely of smoke but I was too tired to care. This shower was fabulous. The floor was so disgusting. I wouldn’t let my feet to h it. It had not being swept or mopped. Cat litter was in the bathroom. Next day: I woke up to loud knocking promptly at 7am. I wrapped in bed linens, answered the door - It was front desk saying my payment was declined. I began my day, packed, opened to the door to hear yelling on the other side of the hotel, echoing. I went to the front desk, found out it was the front desk person yelling at a tenant, drama she said. I asked why she couldn’t have left a note on the door, called, or other means. She said she was simply “doing what she was told.” I gave her another visa, she asked for cash, saying she is locked out of the computer. I did not have cash, she said the manager was coming down the hall, saying it was him she was yelling at because he stayed the night in a woman’s room. As he approached I asked for his assistance. He didn’t acknowledge me, walked past, opened the front door, got in his van parked in the front and drove away. Front desk was appalled, as I was, then she called the owner to assist. He requested a photocopy be scanned of my visa, I said no. He became adamant and persistent about taking a photocopy and I continued to refuse. They ended up writing my visa number down and eventually charged a higher rate amount than originally agreed upon. This dramatic situation took nearly an hour and I was so incredibly frustrated. Front desk was kind, and understood my frustration, even when I said I would never return. I told her she needed to find a better job. In summary: drama, fair price, gross and unmaintained rooms, with the exception of front desk lady-highly dismissive, rude and disrespectful staff. My privacy (visa) was compromised. It was shady. I will never return here even if you paid me and gave me a lifetime free stay anywhere at anytime. Lastly, I could not post a video of the shower, but I have one. It was too bizarre not to. Photos added are of lack of upkeep on the property and typical disgust.

Econo Lodge Gallup is the worst place ever. The building needs to be shutdown completely. The managers are drug users, can tell by their dilated eyes. The female “manager” is on a power trip must be the drugs. Window is broken. The other day I saw a mouse running around in the office. Floors are dirty, like they do not mop. Doors on both ends do not shut completely nor do they lock. Transients come and go late at night, I discovered this when I walked out at 2 am to my vehicle there were 2 homeless people sittin on the stairs. DO NOT STAY HERE YIUH

DO NOT STAY HERE!! I was travelling for work and needed a place to sleep for a few days. When I checked in, the young lady behind the counter was friendly. But it went down hill from there. The room windows are old and whenm the wind blows dust settles on the bed, desk and floor. The bathroom smells bad from the drain. I bout a gallon of bleeach and had to keep pouring it in the drain every day. The promised breakfast on their own website and also from the QR Code in the room was non-existent. The only protein they put out is the mild for the sugary cereals. Nothing but sugar and starches. The first morning there I asked a young man working there why there wasn't any sausage or eggs. He answered that's all we got. I asked why the website said there was eggs, sausage, and a whole lot more. He shrugged his shoulders. I asked again, why it was online if they weren't going to serve it. He said, "They told us to change it" I said, "Brother, that sounds more like an excuse than an answer." His response was unbelievable! He said, "I'm not your brother. I'm not white!" Over many years I have worked with and interacted with many amazing people from the Navajo Nation. Never, at 60+ years old has any one of these great People, said anything like that to me. Everyone, including this angry young man, has a right to hold any opinion they choose. But he does not have the right to inflict that opinion on hotel guests. I didn't know that Choice Hotels tolerates that kind of outburst on guests. I called Choice hotel customer service and was given the email of the General Manager of this hotel. I emailed him with this information and gave him a couple of weeks to respond. I emailed him a 2nd time and after another couple of weeks, no response. So sadly, I am leaving the worst review of any review I have ever written. DO NOT STAY HERE!
