Fieldings

I have stayed in many Residence Inns and this was for an overnight stop over as is ideally located, close to shops and Walmart. Usual room, and this was a very large 2 bed suite with 2 baths, ideal for 4 people, however, score reflects some disappointment we experienced with this particular hotel. Our room was not ready until 6pm, and when we did eventually check in it smelled of weed ( in our opinion). We had no soap in one bathroom, and no shower gel in the other. One of the spare pillows had a stain, and the other room didn’t have spares. The swimming pool was fine, but the towels are far too small, sadly we felt this was not up to the usual standard of a Residence Inn.

Upon our 9:30 pm arrival, we were met with an unmade bed in one of our two assigned rooms. The only onsite employee did her best to rectify this while we waited, and we were satisfied with the result. Once settled, we found the one bedroom suites to be spacious, comfortable and updated, though not without additional housekeeping oversights (missing stopper in sink, no bedding for sofabed, clocks not set). Breakfast was a highlight with a wide variety of choices and helpful staff. There was a highly appealing outdoor seating area outside the breakfast room that we would have enjoyed on a longer stay. On checkout, we spoke with a manager who was apologetic for the bed issue and compensated us fairly. Given the number of options in Albany, we’d probably try another property if passing through again.

Stayed at this location due to proximity of a business obligation. It is near shopping and restaurants - including a mall and the largest Walmart in the US across the street. Room was a studio king- bed was super comfortable, full size fridge/ freezer, stove etc. Parking is free. Room and hotel felt clean. Lobby was cute, tables, booths, fireplace. Free breakfast. There was an indoor pool and a small gym. Cute outdoor area with string lights and fire pit also. This is not a 5 star resort- but if something is bringing you to the area and you need a clean place with amenities, this is great. Price was comparable to many hotels in the area. But I did find a little pricey for a Sunday night in Albany in March.
