Location is in dire need of repair. There is NO ac in the room. We specifically called and spoke to Debbie and asked and were told "Yeah we have air." Well the owner might downstairs but we didn't. Rooms have no keys. When you leave you have to leave all of your belongings unsecured in your room. There is no where to put anything in the room. Every area that could hold something has a nick knack on it. Everything had an inch of dust on it. We left after one night. Shower handle didn't work. Bedroom door handle didn't work. So basically it was hot, dirty, and loud. The noise was due in large part to the screams and car alarms going off at 1 in the morning and since we couldn't close our windows or we would die from heat exhaustion. The owner touts this location as "stepping back into the 1900's" That is a true statement. In fact, I kind of felt like, I was on the Oregon Trail. My only solace was I'm pretty sure bed bugs can't survive in that kind of heat environment. There is NO WAY the owners don't know what they are charging people for. Well lesson learned. For all the people who put good reviews up about this place I would say either 1 you didn't actually stay there, 2 you are insane, or 3 those reviews were written by the owner. I'm 51 and have travelled the world. This was the biggest disappointment of my travelling life.

Debbie and Eric are the wonderful hosts of the Sankofa Aban Bread and Breakfast. We really enjoyed the jazz jam session and all the musicians were so professional, led by Eric Lemon. Debbie is an excellent cook and provided us with a delicious spinach omelette, with all the fixings, first thing Saturday morning. Public transportation is just down the block, along with a vast variety of wonderful ethnic foods in stores and restaurants, in the neighborhood. Oh, forgot to mention the fish fry dinner Debbie provided during intermission of that Saturday night jam session .....Delicious!!!

Just like home . My room was waiting for me and was located next to a beautiful bathroom. The bed was warm and comfortable. This place is a gem, located close to stores and local places which are part of the charm of brooklyn. The music is fabulous if one chooses to join in or listen and dont forget about the fish fry during music time. The hostess has the mostest and i will be returning again in march to enjoy again.
