Jets Motor Inn Hotel

Recently stayed here & figured that as there hasn’t been a review for a few years some people might benefit from an up to date opinion. If, like us, you’d been staying in manhattan & had an early flight out of JFK so thought it might be easier to stay nearer the airport, honestly, just stay in manhattan rather than stay here. In fact, find a bench in Times Square & kip on that as it’ll probably be warmer, safer & quieter than this hotel is. I’m amazed that hotels.com even sell this property, we checked the reviews on there before booking but wow they do not align with our experience. Upon arrival at the hotel you will find the receptionist situated behind a bullet proof screen, with a tiny slot to pass your card thru & for them to slide your room key out. We were told that contactless tap of our bank card wouldn’t work as it’s an overseas account so they wanted us to either pay cash (we didn’t carry any) or tell them our pin for them to key in-which we clearly weren’t going to do! After some persuasion, they allowed one of us behind the bomb proof door to enter the pin. The walk to our room was interesting, all we could hear was, how can I put this - “adult noises.” The room stank of cigarettes, the window, whilst shut still had a huge draft blowing through & wow it’s loud, sirens, car alarms going all night. We lay on top of the bed in our clothes until our uber arrived to take us to the airport. Let’s be honest, this is a hotel you can book a room by the hour, it’s a knocking shop, so just be careful, if you’re a couple or have kids travelling with you, please don’t book this hotel.

First was a series of emails telling me the reservation was cancelled for a credit card decline when the reservation clearly said pay at the property. I called when we were on the way and was told the reservation was cancelled. When I protested, he said come anyway. When I got there, he said there was no room, and after 3 rounds back and forth, he rented us the room. The floor in the bathroom was sticky with visible dirt on the floor. It was late and we needed a place to sleep overnight. We got out of there as fast as we could. 1 star for convenient location. 1 for the decent bed. We would NEVER go there again.

We were desperate. Needed to be in NY for a funeral. Had to make reservations for Fri-Sat on Thursday. After failing to find space on seven tries, we got this place for $475 !!! The lobby is a hall, with outside doors at each end, one to the parking lot, the other to Queens Blvd with a note that says "use the other door." At the middle of this "lobby" is a room, protected by a bullet-proof window.. The most prominent sign on this window says, in bold letters: NO REFUNDS ! Next to that is a list of the rules of this establishment. They include: "no more than two to a bed; no prostitution; if you want porn, turn on your television." Behind the window are the people whose job seems to be to ignore, insult or sass their guests. Our room was clean and large enough for a cheap motel. The mattress was satisfactory and the shower was very good. The room rent did not include breakfast (We would not have used it anyway) The nearest restaurant is 3 blocks away, a nice little Mexican place. Across from that is a MacDonald's and a Wendy's. We went to the funeral in the morning and returned that evening to see that our room had not been touched: no bed made, no new towels. Fortunately the room cleaning cart was down the hall; so we took the towels we needed. When we asked about that the next morning, we were told that, if we wanted services, we had to ask for them. Nuff said.
