Courtyard Poughkeepsie

I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Poughkeepsie in August 2026 for two nights. It was an enjoyable stay. Since it was August the room rate was reasonable. Hotel room rates in Poughkeepsie are often higher due to Marist University and Vassar College. I had a comfortable first floor room facing the courtyard. The room was near the Front Desk so I avoided a long walk. The bed was clean and comfortable, the air conditioning worked and the bathroom was decent except the toilet was low to the ground. Emily at the Front Desk and two other staff were very friendly and helpful. Near the Front Desk is a “Bistro” with the standard Marriott menu which I have seen in other properties. I paid $10 for Starbucks coffee, Chobani yogurt and a banana. I was charged $10 a day for parking but I expected it based on reading other reviews. The location of the hotel is not far from Marist University, Walkway Over the Hudson, Hyde Park and the FDR Museum, the Culinary Institute of America. I will stay here again my next time in Poughkeepsie which is 2-3 times a year.

Modernistic style hotel. It’s huge with a giant court yard . We had a king suite. First the good. The staff were all polite and helpful particular the desk attendants at checkin. She was helpful , friendly and welcoming. Even more so than usual great Marriott staff. The hotel it self was clean and in good shape overall. We liked the balconies but in better weather (it was hot and humid ) an outdoor chair on the second floor balconies would be nice. The women who attended the Bistro on Saturday night and breakfast again on Sunday morning ( did she even get to sleep? ) was pleasant and conversational. She even made a credible martini…. Not perfect but very good. The other good thing the made to order Bistro breakfast rather than a sorry breakfast buffet. I hate hotel breakfast buffets .i usually skip them and go elsewhere for breakfast Lukewarm rubbery scrambled eggs ( probably made from powdered eggs) , cold bacon , once crispy sausages. You get the idea. Wholly unsatisfying as a meal. I had nicely freshly scrambled eggs, hot bacon and hot toast from the Bistro. It was actually very good. Which is a good thing as there were not any other convenient places for breakfast . Now for the odd ball stuff. One elevator. Not a problem for us but if you have mobility issues ask for a room near the sole elevator. This place is huge and you can definitely make significant goals toward your step count for the day by doing laps around the hallways. Then we get to the toilets in the rooms. I don’t know where Marriott got these but you are practically sitting on the floor. Bargain lot kf toilets designed for a preschool childcare center. ? Just odd and not terrible comfortable and weren’t helping my back spasms. Those with issues getting up will probably hated these. The toilets in the public restrooms were fine so keep that in mind. The rest of the bathroom was fine and the shower was actually pretty nice with good water flow and temp. In our room the furniture was clean and the chairs and sofa reasonably comfortable. There was some wear on the wood on some parts of some of the furniture. Not a big deal for me. What was a big deal was the mattress. Normally I love the beds in Marriott hotels. I find even the ones in the lower end SpringHill and Fairfield Inns to be comfortable. These ones were soft, like very soft. If it was in my house I would be out shopping for a new one rather writing this review. A good hotel , staff and cleanliness met with or exceeded my expectations. But the oddities kept it a 4 star

Nicely updated but pricey. Charging for the parking I understand in big city but is a little annoying in the suburbs. Especially since the rooms aren’t cheap
