Inn on Broadway

This is first time I have ever written a review about a hotel property, but I need to for this hotel. My husband and I arrived and the front desk person was very helpful and pleasant. When we got to our room I immediately started sneezing and feeling claustrophobic. We lowered the air and went for a walk. Within 5 minutes we noticed the city was almost apocalyptic. Sensing we were not in good spot we returned to the hotel. Upon returning, our room was still not cooling off so we asked the front desk if we could change rooms. We were out in a dated room with disgusting carpet and pillow cases that were yellowish brown. We had a dinner reservation for 7 in the bar/tavern and decided to go to the jazz club. That was probably the best experience of our stay, however the draft beer was stale. Anyway, we decided to stop in the tavern to see what was happening in there. The bartender was very kind and polite. We noticed there was no air in the bar area. As we chatted with the bartender we inquired why there were no people in town and to our surprise, we heard there was a mass shooting 3 weeks prior. The question is like to ask is why weren’t we informed of this prior to check in or even at check in!!! It would have been great to know this before walking around an unsafe town! I do not recommend this hotel. It’s on the Historic Register and honestly, it should be reviewed. There was no manager present. How sad!

We stayed one night at The Inn on Broadway in late May while on a week long trip and what should have been an easy overnight stay turned into our worst nightmare. Our car was stolen right out of the hotel’s parking lot. The person who stole our car took my handicap placard and my wheelchair, which I rely on daily. Losing those items impacted the rest of our trip and has severely impacted my life over the past few weeks. What made everything worse was the hotel staff’s complete apathy. When we went inside to explain what happened, expecting empathy and assistance, the front desk showed zero concern. No urgency, no empathy, no effort to help. Their dismissive attitude was shocking — especially considering the seriousness of the situation. When filing the police report, the police shared this happens frequently around this hotel. The hotel clearly knows this is a recurring issue, yet they acted like it wasn’t their problem and lack security. I’m sharing this so other travelers — especially those with disabilities — can make an informed decision. What happened to us was terrible, and the hotel’s lack of responsibility or compassion made it even worse.

This is such a beautiful hotel, and we had a very beautiful deluxe room. Given that, we were baffled how it was missing some basics which normally just make sense: - There was no fridge in the room. We only stayed one night, had we booked more days, we would’ve been annoyed. The room was huge and there would’ve been tons of space for a fridge. So maybe the owners feel it ruins the ambience? - You know how you get this mediocre breakfast in these chain hotels? This was less than that. They had stale bagels in plastic packaging, some cereals and some coffee. That’s it. So you would want to keep something to eat in your fridge upstairs, but - you get it, there is none - the layout of our bathroom made no sense. The towel hanger was 10 feet away from the sink (yes, our bathroom was huge) The positive: - the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. - and like I said, it is very beautiful
