Wyndham Rochester Downtown

This was the worst hotel experience I have had for 20 years. The hotel have no central aircon but only some standalone very noisy aircon units blowing cold air here and there. The overall indoor temperature was very uncomfortable. I was told the aircon had been down for 1 year by an employee. The breakfast sucks - everything sucks - DONT GO THERE.

By far the most horrific hotel I have ever been in. Dilapidated facility with no services. No air conditioning, no staff, no food or drink. I went into the kitchen which should be condemned. This facility must not have been inspected by the health department. This place should be shut down.

We stayed here for 5 days as part of a conference for which this was an approved hotel. The experience was one of the worst we have had at any hotel. The air conditioning was not operational during our stay, leaving the hotel above 80°F. When we raised this with staff, we were told they might turn it on and to check back later. We were also told we could open a window — which opened less than 2 inches. When we expressed concern about insects coming in, a staff member told us, in a condescending tone, that he could hang a sign on the window telling the bugs not to enter. We called the front desk multiple times that day with no answer and no voicemail option. Text messages to the hotel went unreturned. Unable to change hotels due to our circumstances, we had to purchase a fan and a dehumidifier out of pocket just to make the room livable. The room itself had multiple stains on the carpet and beetles were found inside. Our room was never refreshed during the entire 5-day stay. Garbage sat in the hallways for multiple days at a time. The lobby bathrooms were in a condition that could only be described as a health hazard. On check-in day, a line of over 20 guests — all attending the same conference — was left to a single staff member while management was visibly absent. That employee was clearly overwhelmed and in distress. It was an inexcusable failure of management. The complimentary breakfast was the worst we have encountered at any hotel. Every core function of a hotel — clean rooms, working climate control, responsive staff, basic sanitation — failed here. We would not return and cannot recommend this property to anyone.
