HAMPTON INN - SUITES ROCKVILLE

Hampton Inn & Suites is located off of Sunrise Highway Route 27, approximately seven miles from JFK International and fourteen miles from LaGuardia International airports. The property is located near several restaurants and fast-food establishments. A vehicle may be needed to access all local amenities; traffic may be hazardous to pedestrians. Immediate traffic noise on either side of the hotel and intersection is minimal. Train noise was apparent on the hotel side facing the tracks. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Guest room was mostly clean and functional. Guest suite climate control appeared antiquated yet functional. Fitness center appeared clean and functional, but did not use at the time of my stay. Swimming pool appeared clean but did not use at the time of my stay. Complimentary breakfast available with limited variety and selection and average quality. Please be advised, no restaurant on-site. Free parking available but must register vehicle with front desk. Overall, okay stay. I would consider staying at this hotel when visiting the Rockville Centre area or short airport layovers in the future.

Clean, friendly hotel which has its location working both for and against it. I didn’t have a car but didn’t need one. The LIRR to Penn Station or Grand Central is a short easy walk, or you can take the N4 bus to Jamaica, Queens, and transfer to the E train (longer, but cheaper). In the heart of Rockville Centre you’ll find practical stores including the Bagelry (excellent NY bagels), a barber shop next door to it which came in handy, Dollar Tree, 7-Eleven, banks/ATMs, and such. Right next door to the hotel is a King Kullen supermarket and a CVS. There’s a free guest laundry in the basement (accessible via an elevator in the back) which is a valuable perk (they sell detergent for $1 or buy at Dollar Tree). No business center anymore, but the front desk graciously printed some pages for me. Now, here’s the downside: The hotel backs up to the LIRR tracks. And the train runs all night (including moving empty equipment). Even with the fan on, you will hear it. It didn’t bother me, but it will bother others. Overall, a very nice place, but keep that last bit of information in mind.
