Super 8 Motel - Durham/University Area, NC

I made reservations to stay at Super 8 on Dec 19&20, 2025 to attend our granddaughter’s performance of The Nutcracker. In Durham. The afternoon of our arrival the motel called to cancel our stay as the campus was closed due to an electrical fire. I have a voice message saved telling me the motel would take care of all matters regarding advanced payments. I took them at their word believing they would cancel my hotels.com credit card reservation. That did NOT happen! Despite numerous attempts to contact the local motel, it was impossible to reach a manager since the phones were disconnected. I was charged for 2 days stay. I complained to the corporate level giving my original confirmation number, and submitted a complaint to BBB to no also customer satisfaction. A 10% discount was offered at a next stay., expiring March 16. That was ridiculous! This was fraud and robbery on the Super 8. The reputation of the Super8 chain is severely tarnished. Do NOT trust this business!

The wall in the bathroom had mold on it. The desk and floors were sticky. The bed smelled dirty. There was a party in the parking lot with people drinking 40’s around an abandoned car with no wheels. This place was in the worst condition of any hotel I have stayed in for a long time. Do not use this place.

Glenda was very helpful and kind. She made us feel welcome. She was able to recommend places to eat in the area and also gave us great directions. Bristol loved going to say hello everyday. The room was very spacious and tidy and we enjoyed the room. Good water pressure in the shower.
