Best Western Plus University Inn

Best Western Plus is a pleasant surprise gem of the South. Traveling from Maryland, I don’t normally stay in off brand hotels. However, this hotel could have easily compared to my Hilton stays. The rooms were clean,the bed was comfortable ,toiletries were provided. Extensive hot breakfast. Clean, clean and more clean! However, the gem of it all were the staff. The staff greeted every guest, answered questions and Smiled! I saw more smiles from the staff than my own “selfies”. A weary traveler honestly felt home.

I have rarely experienced such a clean and affordable hotel. Very friendly staff and a hot breakfast that you don't find like that in most American hotels! Outstanding!!!! 10 minutes to the Riverwalk, 10 minutes to Wrightsville Beach - it hardly gets more convenient!

For a one night stay, it was decent. Check-in was easy and fast; my first time booking through TripAdvisor. The hotel smelled very nice all over and looked clean. But our room floor was very dirty and dusty; like no one had swept before we arrived. There were food splotches on the floor that should’ve been wiped/mopped up. As someone traveling with a small child, that was unacceptable. Our ice bucket and tray were also stationed in the bathroom which I thought was odd and very unsanitary. We only needed the room to rest and sleep during our roadtrip so I didn’t feel like making a fuss about any of it. Everything else was great. Beds and linens were clean and soft. We slept well! And definitely appreciated the 12p checkout. Although our room was on the 2nd floor right near the elevator, it wasn’t noisy. Breakfast was okay; could’ve used more fresh and fruit options, even for a continental/grab and go breakfast. Loved their little coffee/mocha machine! I’d come back if we needed a place to lay our heads, but I would hope they do a better job at cleaning and prepping the room for their guests.
