Butler Inn

.We were hiking the American Discovery Trail with my family and managed to beat the storm! This is a beautiful inn with clean rooms and hot showers. The prices were incredibly reasonable and worth every penny. The owners are very kind and more than accommodating. I would highly recommend it to anybody

Clean, convenient, comfortable. Not perfect, but I have no complaints.

I was originally going to call this review You Can't Put Lipstick on a Pig. But after I got home and relooked at their website, I have changed the title to Bait & Switch. The website claimed it was a "Perfect Fusion of Comfort and Elegance" and a "Luxury Stay Hotel Experience". Ummmmm no. That could not be further from the truth. We chose it because we like to support local when we travel. The website said the rooms had been refurbished. This website had very favorable reviews. I'm not sure where those other people were staying but it was awful. We had reserved a king room. The desk clerk acknowledged that we had reserved a king room, gave us our keys and some free water and sent us on our way. We thought from the outside it looked nice. We got inside and it was dark and dingy. Two queen beds (no king). Honestly the refurbishing looked like they put in vinyl flooring and then slapped on some paint. The bed was old and there were holes in the blanket. It really was not all that clean. The bathroom was tiny - the tub was actually below floor level. Instead of grout it looked like they'd used tape. The toilet was so close to the wall you had to lean over to get to the toilet paper. I'm average size - there's no way someone larger would fit. We decided to check out early and go somewhere else for our second day. This is when I looked back at the website because I could not figure out why in my right mind would I have chosen this place. That's when I realized. THE PICTURES THEY SHOW ON THE WEBSITE LOOK NOTHING LIKE THE ROOM WE WERE GIVEN. Those rooms were bright and had new furniture. Those rooms had brand new walk in. showers with new tile and real sinks. Even the toiletries they show in their pictures were not what we got (we actually had a hodge-podge of three different brands!). We are not snobs, but don't lie to us. Show the place like it is. I will never go back and I strongly encourage everyone to avoid it. P.S. I wish I had taken pictures of the room.
