For the same money we will stay at The Cederwood Inn, better continental breakfast (still high carb hotel free breakfast), 2 pools (1 is heated indoors, I believe a spa as well) much larger rooms with much nicer bedding, queen size beds, hairdryer & iron in each room. (My husband has stayed at The Cedarwood). Here at the Econo Lodge we had room 120, didn't smell bad when we got there, in the am we left for the day, when we got back our room smelled like cat pee, we left door open while we were relaxing between plays, left for evening came back after 11, room stunk very bad, in the am asked cleaning staff if they could clean the carpet, they immediately moved us to room 122. They were great about that. We expect your normal high carb breakfast at this type of hotel, normally there is a few yogurts and fruit options. Here there was waffles, English muffin, toast, pound cake, old looking apples, cereal, oj and coffee. Don't waste your time.
These rooms are small, older bedding, full size bed not Queens, carpet in room 122 was stained and the back of the desk chair filthy. Room so tight when my friend sleeping in her bed her legs hung off the end, I had to squeeze by between her feet and the desk chair to go the rest room. The sheets and towels were clean, not sure how often the older comforters are washed. Toilet is stained and you have to hold handle down for paper to flush. (Both toilets same issue with flushing) Old box TV, lots of channels. No hair dryer or iron in room. We asked for hairdryer, they gave us one. Never asked for an iron. We had issues with Flys and had spiders in room 120.
The pool water is cloudy and cold water. No hot tub. The back side of the hotel looks over a brown field across from the Burger King. I felt safe here, didn't find people staring as other reviews reported. There are RVS that are camped on the edge of the parking lot, some look like they live there, they kept to themselves, no one ever looking this direction. It's about 3 miles to downtown to the plays. If your driving and want only on freeway I would look at the other Ashland exit, I believe exit 14, there is a cheap motel I believe it's been remodeled, it's next to a restaurant that has great food and good service.
