The Inn at Cross Keys Station

Came in late and booked a room for $156. Was told the price on the phone and when I booked it. Did not get a receipt (my bad) . My bank statement was for $181. I asked for the bottom line and did not get it. Of course there is tax. But it should have been included with the full price of the room.

We stayed at the Inn at Cross Keys while on a cross-country driving trip. The Inn is in the small town of Madras. Therefore, it is very quiet, and restaurant choices are limited, but you can still find a decent meal. The landscaping is amazing--I have never seen a hotel with landscaping that nice, and it is completely around the hotel, not just in the front. We sat outside on the back patio after dinner and had a drink and we had it all to ourselves. The pool area was nice and was never very crowded. The decor is like a beautiful log cabin with a huge stone fireplace in the lobby. The staff was all wonderful--welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I had fallen earlier in my trip and broken a bone in both elbows. Therefore, I needed to ice my arms each night. The small fridge in our room did not have a freezer for us to freeze the ice packs, and the ice machines were all enclosed. I asked at the front desk, and the hostess put them into the freezer in their "market" area, and allowed us to retrieve them later that evening. The room was very nice and exceptionally clean. It had a small fridge and a microwave and a coffee maker. The bed was comfortable with four pillows. The breakfast was about what you would expect from a hotel breakfast, except that the homemade biscuits were cold. They had cereal, eggs, sausage and pancakes. We would definitely recommend the Inn at Cross Keys if you are going to be traveling through Madras.

Good location with great views from room. Our room was clean and quiet. Only room complaint is the toilet was way low—maybe good for a young kid but hard on adult Knees. We didn’t use the pool or hot tub but did have breakfast which was quite good for an included hotel, although no fresh fruit at breakfast. Loved the rustic decor and the grounds as well as the building and room itself.
