Resort at the Mountain

My husband and I stayed at the lodge last week and he enjoyed of all the things the food and specifically "hot wings" prepared for him by Paul the chef. So, I too enjoyed the visit so much that we returned only to find the stay even more enjoyable than the last week's trip. Again the staff, Marjorie, Corbin, Marlee and others were simply stellar in making our stay amazing. And yes! He got his super hot, "Dr. Brown's" wings. My husband and I have now agreed to visit once a month just to get away and take our laptops and books to change our scenery and rejuvenate. I highly recommend you visit but also to see and enjoy all of the amenities this PEACE of heaven offers. Dr. D

The employees are fantastic! They absolutely make this place worth the stay. Grounds are peaceful. Pool area is nice. Breakfast was delicious. The facility is extremely dated and actually falling apart in places. The bathroom was terrible. Mattress extremely uncomfortable. And the towels! I understand a remodel would be expensive. But it would not be unreasonable to invest in towels that are not scratchy, torn and the size of dinner napkins. At least they provided a good laugh from our entire group at dinner. Stayed here because we had to. Not likely to be back by choice unless there are some major updates.

Based on looks alone this property would have been a 3 star for me. But the employees make it so much better. Everyone smiles and is so helpful. Their continental breakfast is so much better than what you usually get. The bacon was crispy, the eggs cooked and still warm and lots of pastry choices. Mallards at the golf course made up for the restaurant closed (2nd BW we’ve stayed at recently with a closed restaurant). The bartenders were friendly, the drinks outside watching the golfers play and the Friday night live music on the lawn had great songs. We ordered food that came quickly, was hot and tasted great. This is the second time we’ve stayed here and would come again for the location and friendly employees.
