Unfortunately after booking months in advance, we got a call from the manager two days before our trip saying there was a "computer glitch" and there were no rooms available to us. The manager did offer to transfer our reservation to another property. However, that property was in Beaverton, an hour away. As compensation they would provide dinner vouchers for us each of the two nights. However, upon check-in we found there was one voucher for one dinner on one night. Our follow-up emails were not returned. The hotel where we did stay bent over backwards to help us out and definitely earned our future patronage. So although there were partial attempts to correct the error, we can not recommend this property based on our experience.

We had booked a room at Shilo Inn, Salem OR several months in advance, only to have them call the day prior to arrival that they could not honor our reservation. They offered an alternative in Beaverton, OR, which would definitely not work for us. So, I would absolutely suggest not planning to stay there!!!!
This caused us a lot of grief.

This hotel is a little old but the bed was comfy and the room was big and clean. It's hard to see from Market Street because there's no big sign on the building that you can see from the street. But - it's definitely worth looking for because it has the nicest staff you'll ever find. You know - anyone with money can buy a building and put furniture in it but not everyone can hire a great staff and keep them. We had really good service from Ms Nivert who was the Acting manager during our stay and we had really great service from Cassia...who went out of her way to make certain we were happy. When I needed something for our room late at night Cassia went to the upstairs storage room and found what I needed and offered me some more coffee which I hadn't asked for but gladly accepted. It was so obvious that she's really a people person and just enjoys helping people. Also - Amanda was coming down the hall on the fourth floor and saw my wife and I struggling with our luggage the day we checked out and our wheelchair was getting in the way...and she stopped what she was doing and helped get us downstairs into the Lobby. I tried to tip her and she just shook her head and said - "this is my job and I'm happy to help". We travel quite a bit and our son lives in Salem so we will definitely be returning to the Shilo on our future visits.
