Carlisle House

When we first got in everything was set pretty nicely and it had that old vibe, the victorian like feeling. I thought it would be like an actual airbnb but it’s more of a hotel room so that was a little bit of a disappointment but I think it was more of a misunderstanding so my hopes were too high. First thing I did was check everything to make sure the place was clean a bit, instead in one of the bed drawers was a eaten seed of a peach most likely, the sheets had a weird pink-red stain, and under the bed had really weird dust-hair particles that was actually pretty obvious. I brought some clothes and wanted to do laundry but when we tried to speak with the host, we haven’t gotten any reply whether we can do laundry, no good direction nothing. I’m pretty disappointed overall and wish the place could be cleaner. The wifi is stated to be fast as a bullet, but it is slower then a car going 15mph. I gave this a 2 star review at least because overall it was a nice place to relax with good AC, but it was a little stressful.

The experience was disappointing considering the reviews I had read. First the breakfast described in the reviews seemed amazing and to our surprise in our message of self-check in they told us there was no breakfast service from Monday to Thursday due to not enough staff but unfortunately that was too late to cancel our reservation and go somewhere else. We have seen absolutely no-one in the whole stay, not at arrival where everything was self-check in nor at departure even if we arrived around 7pm and left by 9:00am so not really weird hours. so we had to leave our luggage in the car as there was nobody to leave it with for the day of our visit. The guest entrance is through the back on a side door and the front entrance is not used for guests which makes it a not very pleasant experience and the instructions to find the side entrance door with the code where not clear so we spent 20 min trying to find it. Some pictures would have been helpful. The room was nice but really old, carpet needs to be changed, beds are old and not very comfortable and in general the room needs a refresh. I understand it is an historic building but that is no excuse to not to renovate the interior and have more modern and comfortable furniture. Bathroom was ok but the shower needs to be changed as the shower head has a lot of limescale. Lastly for the stay the value was really low. I paid 329 $ for 2 people with no breakfast and no personalized service for an old room. Net a pretty disappointing experience.

An old time B&B which can be good - this is more eclectic than quaint. We had a room at front of house - louder busy street. Breakfast not served every day. A bit overpriced. Not particularly friendly staff person in the morning.
