I am extremely disappointed with my stay at Harbor Base Inn. The biggest issue was the lack of reliable Wi-Fi. We booked a four-day stay, and there was essentially no usable Wi-Fi service in our room throughout the entire stay, day or night. My children and I were often forced to sit outside the hotel in the summer heat just to find a weak and unstable signal. On several occasions, we had to go to a nearby Burger King and stay there until mid-night when it closed, so we could complete our work and school-related tasks. It was frustrating and exhausting to pay for a hotel room yet be unable to work or study from it. The bathroom was also not properly cleaned, which made our stay even more uncomfortable. To make matters worse, while I was outside trying to work on a phone meeting because the was no Wi-Fi in the room, I moved a bench chair next to my chair to hold my backpack. The owner/manager approached me and repeatedly told me not to move the bench. I signaled several times that I was on an important phone call and that I would put it back, but she ignored my signals and continued speaking to me. I found this interaction disrespectful and unprofessional, especially considering that I was only outside because the hotel's Wi-Fi service was inadequate. When I raised the Wi-Fi issue with the office, I was told that the nearby Navy base affects the signal. However, the Navy base is not a temporary condition, and other nearby hotels do not seem to have the same problem. If Harbor Base Inn knows that its Wi-Fi service is unreliable, it should clearly disclose this on its website so guests can make an informed decision before booking. Low prices should not be used to compensate for or misleading or conceal significant issues such as unreliable internet service and poor cleanliness. I would not recommend Harbor Base Inn to anyone who needs dependable Wi-Fi, a clean room, or a comfortable environment for work and family travel.

This is your basic BASIC motel. If you are looking for a place to shower and spend the night it's fine. If you're looking for luxury... Look elsewhere. The girl at check-in was very pleasant. This was a last minute one night trip to meet with family who were visiting Newport. We needed a room and found this one for $188. Which is a great price for a Saturday night in Newport. While the room was very outdated, it was clean. The shower was hot and had great water pressure. TV microwave and fridge/freezer in room. Bed was ok. Not the best mattress. It's about a 15 minute drive to Thames Street. If you're not picky this is fine. But it's not a 5 star hotel. It's more a 1 or 2 star. We only stayed one night. It worked out fine for us. All we needed was a bed and a shower.

This was by far one of the grossed hotels I’ve stayed in in this country. We barely slept and woke up stuffy, red-eyed and allergic, needing allergy medication. The a/c barely worked and was very loud - repeatedly waking us up. There was NO WIFI- despite being told there were 3-4 options and given the pw. Maybe the whole trailer park next door is using their wifi. I don’t know. The furniture looked like something no one else wanted at a yard sale. There was hair in the bathtub. We were given 1 small old towel per person. No chain to lock the door from the inside (feels very unsafe to me to sleep without that). We had a wedding and multiple events over the weekend and had been told no refunds after 3-weeks prior to check in so I didn’t ask. Front desk gal got nasty and hung up on me when I called on Monday - and lied and said I had a late check out. Which I didn’t. And would not have mattered. This place is just gross - and I have lived in a tent for months at a time.
